The Krasnodar nuclear power plant ( Russian Краснодарская АЭС [ ]) was originally supposed to be built in 1988 in the city of the same name in the Adygeja (Circassian) Republic of Russia .
history
It was planned in the Soviet times. Up to two reactors of the VVER-1000 type should be built. But protests broke out shortly after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. It was alleged that the nuclear power plant was in an earthquake-prone area on the Black Sea . The project was then discontinued in 1988. All that remains is a prepared construction pit for the nuclear power plant.
