Chlorophenol red is a chemical compound from the group of triphenylmethane dyes and is related to phenolphthalein . It is used as an indicator substance that changes its color from yellow to purple in the pH range from 4.8 to 6.4. At a pH of 4.8 the absorption range is 432–436 nm, at 6.4 it is 574–578 nm.
