Reviews

The portal queer.de judges: “A love on Long Island is a film of the international extra class with top cast that has established itself as a classic of queer cinema. John Hurt plays the older writer and after 'The Naked Civil Servant' a gay again. And Jason Priestley, known from Beverly Hills, 90210 , the young actor. "

Rico Pfirstinger judges on the portal spielfilm.de: “It is the tragic-comic story of a cultivated fossil that ultimately discovers perfect beauty in everything that it was never before. John Hurt convinces with subtle gestures and the nuanced portrayal of a widower who has become vulnerable through his own self-exposure, who is well aware of the ridiculousness and hopelessness of his actions and whose life is nevertheless falling apart: Without shedding a tear, Hurt conveys more tragedy than a sobbing Tom Hanks and - without laughing a single time - more comic than a farcical Jim Carrey . "

background
