Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo (born October 15, 1968 as Sally Vanessa Ortiz in Indio , California ) is an American actress , best known for her work in the television series General Hospital and Las Vegas .

Career

Marcil became known to a wide audience in her role as Brenda Barrett in the television series General Hospital . For the role she played from 1992, she received two Emmy nominations in 1997 and 1998.

Marcil made her feature film debut in 1996 in The Rock as a film friend of Nicolas Cage . In 1997 she took on a guest role in two episodes of Steven Spielberg's series High Incident. In 1999 she starred in the two independent films Nice Guys Sleep Alone and This Space Between Us .

In the series Las Vegas (2003-2008) she was one of the leading actors as casino hostess Sam Marquez.

Private life

Marcil was married to Corey Feldman from 1989 to 1993 , which she initially denied. From 1999 to spring 2003 she was in a relationship with actor Brian Austin Green . They have a son (born March 30, 2002). On July 11, 2010, Marcil married actor Carmine Giovinazzo in a private ceremony in New York. In June 2010, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child; however, in December 2011 Giovinazzo announced via Twitter that Marcil had suffered a miscarriage. On August 22, 2012, it was announced that Marcil had filed for divorce in Los Angeles. The reason given was "irreconcilable differences".
