action

1st season

The setting is the fictional Hotel and Casino Montecito in the American city of Las Vegas .

Season one begins with Ed Deline ( James Caan ), the hotel's chief security officer, his daughter Delinda ( Molly Sims ) and his right-hand man catching Danny McCoy ( Josh Duhamel ) in bed together. The two are a couple, which annoys "Big Ed" because he knows his daughter and is afraid she could hurt Danny, even if he put it the other way round. Delinda later separates from Danny, but they remain friends. Mary Connell ( Nikki Cox ), Danny's childhood friend, is delighted because she has always been in love with him. Nessa Holt ( Marsha Thomason ) is the adopted daughter of Ed Deline. She took her in after her birth father, his then CIA partner, died. Samantha Jane Marquez ( Vanessa Marcil ) is the Montecito's casino hostess . On the outside, she is a strong career woman who has built a wall because she has had to go through a lot in her life so far. Mike Cannon ( James Lesure ) is initially one of the hotel's car parkers, but is repeatedly recruited by Ed and Danny due to his MIT degree in technical matters until he changes completely to the security department at the end of the season. Ed is later promoted to managing director of Montecito while Danny takes over Ed's old position.

2nd season

Danny comes back from his assignment with the Marines, in which he was able to repel the enemy in Iraq with an order to fire on his own coordinates ( Danger Close ) and all soldiers in his unit died except himself. Danny has changed and cannot cope with the events in Iraq. Only when Ed, who had similar experiences in his time with the CIA, recommends Danny a psychologist and Danny accepts the advice, he becomes the same again. During this time, Danny also makes a marriage proposal to Mary, who accepts him for the time being, but separates from him halfway through the season, as the two are never really together and have no dates. At the end of the season, after a long search for the right person, Mike and Nessa start an affair. Nessa keeps getting hints that her father could still be alive. At the end of the season, she heads to London to meet her father and start a new life. Delinda accompanies her because she argues with her father and he does not accompany her. Danny also has problems when his father is unexpectedly killed in a car accident. Eventually the Montecito is taken over by an unknown new owner who wants to rebuild it from scratch.

3rd season

As between the first and second season, the third begins with a larger time jump. The new Montecito has already been completed and is about to open. The new owner Monica ( Lara Flynn Boyle ) would like to win Danny back as head of security, who is now running his father's construction company. After an initial refusal, Danny finally accepts the offer. Danny brings Mike and Sam back. Delinda and Mary, on the other hand, do not want to go back to work at the Montecito because Delinda still dislikes her father and Mary is enjoying her life with her new boyfriend. In the course of the episodes, however, both come back, so the old team, apart from Nessa, is reunited.

Later, the new owner of the Montecito dies unexpectedly, who fired Ed and caused a lot of trouble for the others by falling from the roof of the Montecitos. Sam's husband Casey Manning ( Dean Cain ) appropriates the Montecito. He wants to win Sam back, but he also wants to make money as he is a successful businessman and wants to keep growing his money.

When Delinda meets her ex-boyfriend from college again, falls in love with him and wants to get married, Danny realizes that he actually feels more about Delinda than he would like to admit. Delinda isn't sure she's doing the right thing. At the end of the season, Ed opens the door of his apartment and is shot by a stranger.

4th season

Just as Delinda wants to confess her love to Danny, he is radioed and informed of the shot. Danny immediately runs to Ed's apartment to overpower the stranger and take Ed to the hospital. Once there, he is still waiting for Delinda, Jillian Deline ( Cheryl Ladd ) and Delinda's fiancé. Here it becomes finally clear for everyone involved what Danny and Delinda feel for each other. Meanwhile, Ed is again visited and questioned by the CIA agents who visited him at the end of Season 3. Ed is then, after his hospital stay, on the way looking for the supposed terrorist.

Danny and Delinda get together for good and are shunned by Mary, who is mad at both of them. In the further course of the story, Danny and Delinda have to survive a kidnapping of Delinda, which ends with Danny saving them. Furthermore, Delinda becomes pregnant at the end of the season, which she doesn't want to tell Danny because she believes Danny is still or again in love with Mary. Danny supports or protects Mary because she has to testify in a lawsuit against her father, who abused her in her youth and wanted to do this again with his current children or has done so. However, her father is acquitted, whereupon Mary falls into a hole, drinks and gets a revolver. The season ends with Mary, Danny, and Ed shooting independently at the same time at Mary's father, who is being robbed of Montecito, a former marine comrade of Danny who is mentally disturbed, blows himself up in the Montecito while Delinda is with him , and Sam is kidnapped overseas by a murderer and rapist locked in a suitcase.

5th season

At the beginning of the fifth season, Sam tells the same psychologist Danny was with after his Iraq assignment and Delinda after her kidnapping what actually happened after the end of the fourth season. So it turns out that Mary and Ed shot Mary's father, but not Danny. After seeing the demolition inside the Montecitos, he goes there immediately, as he had received a call beforehand from Delinda, who is in the same room as the suicide. He looks in the hallway where his old comrade blew himself up, but a firefighter explains to him that nobody is alive here. Undeterred, he continues his search, finds Delinda's mobile phone and searches the laundry trolley, where he finally finds her. She tells him that she is pregnant. Mary goes into hiding, and there is only one brief hint that she is still alive and at large. Ed, accompanied by his wife Jillian, also later goes into hiding after it is discovered that he and Mary were the only ones able to shoot Mary's father. The hit was fatal. The way is now clear to introduce AJ Cooper ( Tom Selleck ) as the new owner of the Montecitos and Piper Nielsen ( Camille Guaty ) to the series.

The further course is characterized by the fact that Cooper constantly demands new ideas from his employees in order to highlight the Montecito of Las Vegas casinos. However, like “Big Ed” Deline before, he supports his employees in every situation and always has advice or a solution. Mike and Piper want to get married, and Danny and Delinda join, creating a double wedding. But a Montecito jet plane crash with Cooper allegedly aboard overshadows events; the double wedding quickly turns into a memorial service. At the funeral, Cooper, who was believed dead, suddenly appears again and asks what is wrong. Just as everyone looks back at him in amazement, Delinda starts screaming and just says that something is wrong with the baby. When she takes her hands from her stomach, they are covered in blood. Danny runs down to her. The fifth season "ends" unfinished with only 19 instead of the originally 22 planned episodes.
