JC Chasez (2007)

Joshua Scott "JC" Chasez (born August 8, 1976 in Washington, DC ) is an American pop musician , composer , presenter and actor . He became known to a wide audience at the end of the 1990s as a member and front singer of the former boy group * NSYNC . In the 2000s he also made a name for himself as a solo performer and juror on the talent show America’s Best Dance Crew .

childhood

Born in Washington, DC, the singer grew up in Bowie , Maryland after being adopted by Karen and Roy Chasez at the age of five.

The singing is not fascinated him from the beginning. When he was twelve, he took part in a talent show for betting with a friend. He won the competition and discovered singing for himself.

Shortly thereafter, he left Bowie and went to Orlando , Florida with his father Roy to audition at Disney's Mickey Mouse Club . There he was hired directly as a moderator. A short time later he moderated together with Britney Spears , Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake . When the Mickey Mouse Club was discontinued in 1994, it moved back to Bowie.

* NSYNC

The contact with Justin Timberlake remained. When he got a call from Chris Kirkpatrick who wanted to start his own band, Chasez accompanied him to this meeting. Since the chemistry between the three of them was right, they founded * NSYNC together, later Lance Bass and Joey Fatone joined them.

Chasez also worked with other bands, such as Boyz and Girlz united in 2000 . The song Messed around was written and produced by him. By People Magazine he was also named shortly afterwards one of the top 100 bachelors. On the third * NSYNC - studio album Celebrity of 2001 was Chasez executive producer and songwriter of four titles. After the album became commercially successful, another concert tour followed and a remix for the last single "Girlfriend" with rapper Nelly .

Solo career

As early as 2000, Chasez began performing as a solo artist with guest contributions on albums by other artists. His debut single "Bring It All To Me" was released in collaboration with Left Eyes newly formed band Blaque Ivory and reached number 5 in the US single charts. In the same year he also played the song "Give In To Me" by jazz musician Euge Groove from the album of the same name. Three years later he recorded the track "Blowin Me Up (With Her Love)" with producer Dallas Austin , the theme song for the Nick Cannon film Drumline . The song became an international hit, reaching the Top Twenty in Ireland and the United Kingdom and ranks within the top 40 in Canada and the United States . That same year, Chasez lent his voice to the single "Plug It In" from the Basement Jaxx album Kish Kash . The song reached number 22 on the UK singles chart.

The successor single "Some Girls (Dance With Women)" could not build on the success of the previous single and only reached number 88 in the US single charts. In spite of this, just like "Some Girls (Dance With Women)", the debut album Schizophrenic was released in 2004 . With the album, he moved away from his original contemporary R&B- influenced sound of his first two singles "Bring It All To Me" and "Blowin Me Up (With Her Love)" and released an electro - pop rock record. The song "All Day I Dream About Sex (ADIDAS)" was released in October 2004 as the last single on the album and reached the top 50 in the Belgian , New Zealand and Australian single charts. Thanks to import sales, the title climbed to 167th place in the UK singles chart.

Shortly before the release of his second studio album The Story of Kate , announced for 2007, his label Jive Records split from Chasez. Nevertheless, two singles "Until Yesterday" and "You Ruined Me" were released as a download without any chart success. Many songs written for the album ended up being re-recorded on the albums of his colleagues such as the Backstreet Boys , Brian Transeau , David Archuleta , Girls Aloud or AJ McLean . From 2008 to 2012 Chasez was next to Lil 'Mama and changing the third jury members as a juror in the international broadcast MTV - dance show America's Best Dance Crew , hosted by Mario Lopez, active.
