Blaque Ivory
Blaque Ivory (only Blaque in the US ) is an American hip hop trio. It was established in 1998 Atlanta ( Georgia founded). Members are Shamari Fears, Brandi Williams and Natina Reed (1979–2012). The band name is an acronym for "Believe", "Life", "Achieving", "Quest", "Unity" and "Everything" .
history
Fears and Reed were already growing up together. They made their first musical attempts in the band Butz, but without any notable success. After the band broke up, both initially went their separate ways.
When Reed met Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes , singer of the R&B band TLC , the idea of a joint production was born. Reed invited her friend Fears and the singer Brandi Williams to do so. At the agency of Lopes, the trio received a recording contract with Sony Music .
In the spring of 1999 the debut single 808, produced by R. Kelly , was released and immediately reached the top ten of the US Billboard charts. The single was followed by the debut album Blaque , and the second single from it, a duet with the boy group N'Sync , even surpassed the success of its predecessor in the USA.
Two more albums, Blaque Out (2002) and Torch (2003), have since been released.
The song I'm Good from the Torch album was selected for the soundtrack of the hip-hop dance film Honey . In the wake of the success of this film, the single hit the charts in German-speaking countries in early 2004.
