David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990 in Miami , Florida ) is an American pop singer .

biography

Archuleta started singing early and has participated in several talent shows in his native Utah. In 2003 he won the title of Junior Vocal Champion in a new edition of Star Search .

Archuleta became known nationwide through the casting show American Idol . In the seventh season in early 2008, he was the youngest participant in second behind David Cook . Immediately after the show, the songs performed there received numerous inquiries on iTunes, and so not only did Cook have eleven songs on the Billboard Hot 100 the following week , Archuleta was also able to place his three final songs in the official US charts, his version of John Lennon's Imagine took it 36th.

In August, his first own single, Crush , was released, which immediately entered the charts at number 2 and was thus one place better than the debut of his show competitor. In November 2008 the debut album David Archuleta was released accompanied by a new recording of Robbie Williams' Angels . David Archuleta also made a guest appearance on iCarly in the episode "America Sings" and in Hannah Montana in the episode "The Prom".

In 2009 he won three Teen Choice Awards in the categories "Breakout Star", "Best Love Song" (for Crush ) and "Best Music Tour" (with Demi Lovato ).

In 2010 he won a Teen Choice Award in the "Best American Idol Album" category.

In 2012, after the singles Nandito Ako and Forevermore , the album Forevermore was released in April . His album Begin was released in August 2012 . That was his next album with covers and his own songs.
