Star Search was a casting show that was broadcast in Germany from 2003 to 2004 on Sat.1 . The conception of the show corresponds to the US model of the same name, which was broadcast in the USA from 1983 to 1995 and from 2003 to 2004.

Origin in the USA

Star Search was first broadcast in the United States from 1983 to 1995. She is considered the archetype of all casting shows and helped Aaliyah , Britney Spears , Christina Aguilera , Destiny's Child , Kevin James , Usher and Justin Timberlake to a successful career start. In contrast to today's casting shows, Star Search was looking for music groups, comedians and dancers in addition to individual singers.

After the success of the American Idol talent show , Arsenio Hall re-launched Star Search on CBS between 2003 and 2004 . After that, it ran for another year on Game Show Network .
