Natalie Horler (civil after marriage to Natalie Raffelberg ; born September 23, 1981 in Bonn ) is a British-German singer . She became internationally known as the front woman of the dance trio Cascada , with whom she has sold over 30 million records worldwide.

Life

Horler's parents moved from Great Britain to near Bonn in 1980 . She grew up with her sister in Küdinghoven . Her father David Horler is a jazz musician, her mother Christine an English teacher. Horler came into contact with various musical influences at an early age and spent a lot of time in her father's recording studio as a child. After she had obtained the technical college entrance qualification at the Bonn Liebfrauenschule , she decided to devote herself entirely to music. At the age of 17 she started working in recording studios and recorded tracks with various DJs.

In 2002 she was involved in founding Cascada and performed with the band in small clubs in the early years. Since then it has been managed by Frank Ehrlich. In 2004 she also contributed the background vocals for the single What a Good Man by singer Millane Fernandez . The song was written by Yanou , who is now an integral part of the band. In 2004 she competed in the Sat.1 - talent show Star Search , but retired in the second round.

Horler completed a dance training in the areas of tap dance , jazz dance , hip-hop and street dance and took singing lessons from the age of fourteen. As a child, she played in various small amateur productions at the Theater of the American Settlement in Bonn. In 2008 she performed as a singer at her father's farewell concert with the WDR Big Band Cologne . She has been married to Maurice Raffelberg, an ex-model, since May 2011. She gave birth to a daughter in September 2015.

Success with Cascada

The breakthrough for Horler came in 2005 with producers DJ Manian and Yanou. With the single Evacuate the Dancefloor from 2009 Cascada released the most successful song to date. In November 2010, Horler had to undergo vocal cord surgery. Until the beginning of 2011, all of Cascada's appearances were canceled.

Cascada, 2013

On February 14, 2013, she and Cascada won the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 , Our Song for Malmö with the song Glorious . She took part in the final of the ESC on May 18, 2013 in Malmö and took 21st place, the worst result for Germany since 2008 ( No Angels ).

Side projects

In 2004 she started the side project Siria with DJ Manian. Of the first two singles - Endless Summer (2004) and I Will Believe It (2005) - I Will Believe It reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart . With 2 Vibez she released the song Sometimes in 2005 .

In August 2011 Horler was represented with a photo series in the German edition of the men's magazine Playboy . From January to April 2012 she was in the ninth season of the RTL casting program Deutschland sucht den Superstar as a juror alongside Dieter Bohlen and Bruce Darnell .
