About this picture
Location of the Küdinghoven district in the Beuel district of Bonn

Küdinghoven ( Bönnsch : Külekovve ) is a district of the federal city of Bonn in the Beuel district . The built-up part belongs to the statistical district Li-Kü-Ra ; Küdinghoven also includes part of the Ennert.

location

The built-up location of Küdinghoven is southwest of the federal motorway 59 and on the right bank of the Rhine at the foot of the Ennert, which is a designated nature reserve . The district is the actual center of LiKüRa (an amalgamation of the villages Limperich , Küdinghoven and Ramersdorf ). The town center is characterized by a small-scale structure with residential buildings. There is a commercial structure in the north.

history

In the Middle Ages, Küdinghoven was a central church location. With the honors Ramersdorf , Limperich , Ober- and Niederholtorf , Beuel and half of Bechlinghoven , it was a separate administrative district and belonged to the county of Sayn until the 13th century as "Herrschaft Küdinghoven" . In 1248 the "rule Küdinghoven" came through female succession to Heinrich I von Sponheim , Lord von Heinsberg , whose second son, Johann I, in 1269 took the name "von Löwenberg". Since that time Küdinghoven has been under the " Löwenberg rule ".

The medieval aldermen's seal of Küdinghoven reflects the importance of the place as a parish , high court and rulership . A Thebaic martyr who was venerated as the patron saint at the time - "probably their leader" Mauritius - stands in the form of a knight with a flag lance in the gothic framed center of the seal. With his left hand he leans on the slaughtered shield of the Lords of Sponheim-Löwenberg, the other shield bears the coat of arms of the Lords of Heinsberg.

After a brief interim rule by the County of Nassau-Saarbrücken (1451–1469), the "Dominion Küdinghoven" fell to the Duchy of Jülich-Berg for over 300 years . During this time Küdinghoven was a “sub-court” within the “court” Dollendorf. The last known court, i.e. administration building was on the 'Streff' (near Streffenweg), while the last known administrative director, called 'Richter', lived in Ramersdorf (so-called Richterhaus im Klosterterrain); Lindenstrasse andgerichtsweg connected the two squares.

On December 18, 1808, under Napoleon, the two parishes Küdinghoven and Vilich were merged to form the municipality of Vilich, which also existed when the Rhineland became Prussian in 1815. 1843–45 the new St. Gallus Church was built. The municipality of Beuel emerged from the municipality of Vilich and received city rights in 1952. On August 1, 1969, Küdinghoven was incorporated with Beuel von Bonn.
