About this picture
Location of the Heiderhof district in the Bad Godesberg district of Bonn

The Heiderhof is a district of the federal city of Bonn in the Bad Godesberg district , in the districts of the old districts of Muffendorf and Lannesdorf .

geography

Heiderhof is located above the Rhine Valley on the city limits of Wachtberg . Towards this border, on the edge of the settlement area, are the extensive Heiderhof forest cemetery and the southeasternmost branch of the Kottenforst . In terms of natural space , the district can be assigned to the Oberwinterer Terrassen- und Hügelland , a terraced riedelland that belongs to the Rhine-Ahr terraces of the Middle Rhine Bay . To the north-west of Heiderhof the area slopes down to the Godesberger Bach , to the south-east already within the locality to the Lannesdorfer Wittgesbach . With its up to 178  m above sea level. Coherent development reaching the NHN , Heiderhof is the highest district of the city of Bonn.

history

The district was named after Gut Heiderhof , which was first mentioned in 1362 as "Hof Zer Heide". At the beginning of the 1960s it became clear that Bonn was to remain the “ provisionalfederal capital for a long time . As a result, efforts were made to combat the prevailing housing shortage in Bonn and Bad Godesberg by building several satellite towns . In 1964 the groundbreaking ceremony for the Heiderhof estate took place, and in 1965 the first residents moved in. In contrast to Neu- Tannenbusch , the Heiderhof was planned as a demonstrative building project by the federal government, primarily for federal employees, and also for those who had been displaced from renovation work from Alt-Godesberg . Accordingly, the Heiderhof is considered a good residential area despite its rather simple architecture with some high-rise buildings. Many of the original residents still live there today. Since 1970 the average age has risen from a little over 30 years back then to almost 50 years today. Today around 5,000 people live on the Heiderhof.

Local transport

The connection to the local public transport system (ÖPNV) in Bonn is provided by the lines 613 and 611, both of which run every 20 minutes Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes in the evenings and on weekends and together offer a frequent frequency. The lines offer transfer options to the trams 16 and 63 at the Bad Godesberger Stadthalle, as well as to the Deutsche Bahn and trans regio trains at the Bonn-Bad Godesberg train station . Both lines go to Bonn-Zentrum and connect the Heiderhof with Plittersdorf , the Rheinaue and the federal district . At night, the N10 ensures hourly trips.

schools

A primary school on the Heiderhof is set up as an all-day school; the English-speaking Independent Bonn International School (IBIS) is also operated there as a privately owned school .

Church institutions

The two large Christian churches each maintain a community center on the Heiderhof (Protestant: Immanuelkirche, Catholic: Peace of Christ) and a kindergarten each, the Diakonie an old people's center (house on the Heiderhof).

The PTI promotes teaching and learning in schools and communities at the regional church level. The Evangelical Academy in the Rhineland was based in the House of Encounters from 2002 to 2016 before moving to Bonn- Beuel .
