Ückesdorf is a district of the federal city of Bonn in the city district of the same name with around 2800 inhabitants.

The district of Ückesdorf borders in the west on the federal motorway 565 or the district of Brüser Berg , which belongs to the Hardtberg district , in the north on the district of Lengsdorf, which also belongs to the district of Hardtberg, and in the south and east on the districts of Röttgen and Ippendorf of the Bonn district. Ückesdorf essentially consists of a contiguous residential area that has been continuously expanded over several decades and has 2,851 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2012) , which corresponds to almost one percent of Bonn's population. The majority of the population of Ückesdorf consists of families who on average make up the youngest population structure (average: 36 years) in a district of Bonn and have a low unemployment rate. The rent level is around six percentage points above the city average (according to the Bonn rent index 2011, the Ückesdorf rental location is consistently “good”) and the crime rate is the lowest in a city comparison.

In the middle of the Ückesdorf residential area there is a consulate general (in the time Bonn was the seat of government, the embassy ) of Afghanistan .

history

Until the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1969, Ückesdorf was part of the Duisdorf district in the Bonn district for 35 years . During the reorganization, this was partly incorporated into the municipality of Alfter ( Rhein-Sieg district ), and partly to the independent city of Bonn.

Public infrastructure

Ückesdorf has a pharmacy, a general practitioner, a dentist, a baker, a kiosk, the Butscheids restaurant and the Kottenforst cemetery. Since Ückesdorf only has a basic supply, the Ückesdorfers use many offers in the surrounding districts. The shared use of the Röttgen infrastructure in particular requires a close connection with this neighboring, larger district.

kindergarten

Ückesdorf has owned the Ü-Dötzchen kindergarten, which is run by parents' initiative , since 1998 , in which currently 50 children are cared for 35 hours a week (block opening times) by five pedagogical specialists in two groups. The centrally located kindergarten building on Von-Halberg-Straße is owned by the city and made available to the parents' initiative for use.

primary school

Most Ückesdorf primary school children go to the Schlossbachschule on the outskirts of Röttgen - in the direction of Ückesdorf - which the children can easily reach on foot from Ückesdorf. The Schlossbach School is one of the largest primary schools in Bonn with around 290 children in a total of twelve classes. A gym, a music room, a student library, a learning center and a computer room are available there. Since August 1, 2007, the Schlossbachschule has also been an open all-day school (OGS). The children can stay there in the context of short-term care until 1.30 p.m. or long-term care until 4.30 p.m. after class. a. lunch and homework help.

high school

Carl von Ossietzky High School

The Carl-von-Ossietzky-Gymnasium (short: CvO) is located in Ückesdorf . The CvO is a state-recognized all-day school with an artistic, musical and scientific focus. As a school with up to four parallel classes in each year, with a total of around 780 students and 50 teachers, it is the smallest grammar school in Bonn. The restrictions on the range of courses in the upper level are countered by cooperation in the field of joint advanced courses with the neighboring Hardtberg Gymnasium (web link) in the Brüser Berg district .

In the past few years between 55 and 65 high school graduates left the grammar school in one year. The school grounds, which are around 40,000 square meters in size and adjoining a forest, have u. a. a basketball court, a beach volleyball facility and a barbecue area. In addition to the two main buildings, in which all classrooms, specialist rooms and administration are housed, the school has two sports halls. The auditorium burned down completely on May 24, 2010 for an unknown cause, with the roof structure collapsing. After the fire ruin was demolished in February 2011, the auditorium was rebuilt and has been in operation again since December 2012. The CvO has a support association called the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Gymnasium Bonn-Röttgen eV The support association was founded in 1970 and has the objective of supporting and financially promoting necessary and meaningful projects of the school.

Church and youth club

Hubertus Chapel, south-east view

At the end of 2004, at the instigation of the Archdiocese of Cologne, the Ückesdorf wooden church of St. Hubertus, built in 1968, was closed. The church has now been torn down. Every Thursday since the wooden church was demolished, services have been held in the small Hubertus chapel (Ückesdorf) built in 1718 . For the Catholic parish the Church of Christ Resurrection in Röttgen and for the Protestant parish in Röttgen / Ückesdorf (web link) the St. Thomas Church is also in Röttgen. Every year on Martin's Day in Ückesdorf there is a St. Martin's procession, where kindergarten and school children present their self-made lanterns. At the end there is traditionally a Martins fire and Martins singing followed by "Schnörzen".

The Ran youth club of the Association for the Promotion of Ecumenical Youth Work in Röttgen and Ückesdorf , established by the two parishes, had to move from the Ückesdorf church after its closure in 2004, initially within Ückesdorf, in order to move to the premises of the Protestant St. Thomas Church there in Röttgen and has now found its home in the wing of the new sports hall of the CvO in Ückesdorf.

Playgrounds, street names

Ückesdorf has two playgrounds and a small football field. Some streets in Ückesdorf (in the former “Eurobau” development area) are named after well-known German painters, for example: Von-Kügelgen- Strasse, Oswald-Achenbach- Strasse, Caspar-David-Friedrich- Strasse, Max-Ernst- Strasse and Charles-Wimar -Street.

societies

Ückesdorf itself does not have its own sports club, but the sports halls and outdoor areas of the CvO are also used by sports clubs. This applies u. a. for the Röttgener sports club Rot-Weiß Röttgen, which offers volleyball, gymnastics, dancing, boules, walking, fitness and, more recently, speed badminton as well as football . In addition, there is the TC Röttgen tennis club in Röttgen, which is also used by many Ückesdorfers and has eight tennis courts.

Transport links

Ückesdorf is directly connected to Bonn city center by bus line 604 every 20 minutes during the day. With the timetable change by Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB) on December 12, 2011, a taxi bus line was introduced, which connects the districts of Ückesdorf and Röttgen. At night, the N5 night line ensures the connection to Bonn's nightlife.

The nearest train station is Bonn-Duisdorf (approx. Three kilometers away). This station is located on the Voreifelbahn Bonn– Euskirchen in the Bonn district of Duisdorf .

Ückesdorf can be reached by car via the 565 motorway, Hardtberg / Röttgen exit.

"Am Hölder" development area

Between Ückesdorf and the neighboring Röttgen lies the “Am Hölder” development area. The area to be built between Reichsstrasse and Heidegartenstrasse and Weg Am Hölder (both in Röttgen) is around 25,000 square meters. The area previously used as a field is divided into 185 building plots on which 300 apartments will be built, mostly in two-story single and double houses, but also in some three-story apartment buildings.

Approx. 75 percent single-family houses and approx. 25 percent multi-storey buildings, which may reach a maximum height of three full floors and one stacked floor, are to be built. This means that there would be room for around 1,000 new residents in the planned residential area. About two thirds of the area between Röttgen and Ückesdorf will remain free even after the development. After citizens, politicians and the city administration had discussed the planned new building area and its design for years, the Bonn city council decided on the “Am Hölder” development plan in September 2011.

The civil engineering for the construction of the new canal and the construction road began in January 2013. At the beginning of 2015, the first houses and apartments could be occupied.

In the run-up to the city council's decision, environmental experts had warned against building on the open-air corridor that was considered important for Bonn. The climate report commissioned by the city as part of the development plan procedure also spoke out against development, but also came to the conclusion that the model calculations in the event of development would not result in any significant restrictions on the so-called downwash system in the Lengsdorf Bachtal . To compensate for the encroachment on nature, the area to the north of the building area is to be planted as an ecological compensation area.

Katzenlochbachtal

The Katzenlochbachtal nature reserve extends over a length of seven kilometers directly adjacent to Ückesdorf and only separated by the Reichsstraße , in which there are only four crossings between Röttgen and Ückesdorf on the western side and Lengsdorf and Ippendorf on the eastern side: two wooden bridges, the path , "Am Katzenlochbach", and the Schiffgesweg. The valley is called Katzenlochbachtal because of the Katzenlochbach, which flows from Röttgen via Ückesdorf through the Katzenlochbach valley (and later flows into Dransdorf as the Endeicher Bach after approx. 10.6 km as the longest brook in Bonn). Wildcats - the namesake for the valley and stream - probably lived on the Katzenlochbach until the middle of the 20th century , but they were exterminated through hunting and urban sprawl. In the meantime, a wildcat population has been detected in the adjacent Kottenforst, which may also spread to the old Katzenlochbachtal district. The Katzenlochbachtal is otherwise very natural: The valley has alder - alluvial forests and spring swamps on the valley slope. There are protected animal (especially bird) species, such as the nightingale, the oriole and the kingfisher . Also badger , polecat , stone marten , pine marten , grass snake and various amphibians live in the nature reserve. The Katzenlochbachtal has been designated as a nature reserve since 1999 in order to preserve this biological diversity there. In 2004 the entire Kottenforst was designated as a nature reserve and since then has included a. also the Katzenlochbach valley. Since 2000 the Katzenlochbachtal has been designated as part of the Kottenforst as a bird sanctuary and FFH area "Kottenforst forest reserve with Waldville".
