About this picture
Location of the Lessenich / Meßdorf district in the Bonn district

Lessenich / Meßdorf is a district of the federal city of Bonn in the city district of the same name . It is about five kilometers from the center and borders on Duisdorf to the east, north-east across the Meßdorfer Feld and on Endeich and Dransdorf to the north, and the municipality of Alfter in the west .

Until the end of the 18th century Lessenich belonged to the electorate of Cologne and was under the administration of the higher office of Bonn . After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794) and the introduction of the French administrative structures (up to 1798) Lessenich belonged to the Mairie Oedekoven in Canton Bonn external . In Prussian times (from 1815) the community of Lessenich remained part of the mayor's office Oedekoven , which was assigned to the Bonn district . The community of Lessenich was incorporated into Bonn on August 1, 1969. The Lessenich district within the boundaries of the former municipality still exists today.

Johann Conrad Adenauer (1833–1906), the father of the first German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, came from Meßdorf .
