The cross was created in 1950 by the Ramersdorf metal sculptor Karl Schollmayer for the jury court room of the Bonn district court , where it hung for almost four decades. Bonn lawyers and members of the judiciary had donated it in gratitude for their return from Soviet captivity. After the renovation of the hall, it was not hung up again. Through the efforts of the St. Gallus Parish Association, it came into the care of the parish as a permanent loan. 1950
