Arnoldstrasse map |
The wayside shrine from 1757 is on Arnoldstrasse. In the recess in the base there are not only the initials of the founder, but also a representation of a heart. The veneration of the Heart of Jesus led to the founding of a brotherhood in Schwarzrheindorf, which was confirmed by the papal side on June 15, 1756. The Brotherhood's Sacred Heart procession was held every year after the Sacred Heart Festival. It is assumed that the wayside shrine on Vilicher Straße and Grabenstraße, the wayside shrine at the pastorate, the Vilicher holy house and the wayside shrine described here were the four blessing stations of the original Sacred Heart procession. | In the recess in the base there are only the initials of the founder: IW (it is the Canonicus J. The grave cross from 1727 is today on Dixstrasse in a green area south of the immunity area of the Schwarzrheindorfer Doppelkirche. The cross comes from the Vilich cemetery. In 1910 it was moved to the second path that leads from Bergheimer Straße in Schwarzrheindorf to the sewage treatment plant. Until then, the so-called Magdalenenkreuz was located there (today at the double church). Later, around 1960, the cross was moved to its current location. The inscription on the cross says that Eva Berchem, wife of Johannes Langen, died on November 2, 1727.
