biography

Millane Fernandez was born in 1986 in Jakarta , the daughter of an Indonesian and a German . In 1998 she emigrated with her family to Germany, where she lived in Hamburg-Harburg and attended the Harburg comprehensive school. In spring 2001 she got her first record deal with what was then BMG Berlin Musik GmbH / Hansa. She was chosen as the successor of Blümchen from more than 1,100 applicants in a campaign by the Bild newspaper . One day after her election, Millane was in the studio and recorded the song Boom Boom , whose producer was Dieter Bohlen . The song was in the German charts for 18 weeks , eight of which were in the top 30. The highest ranking was 21st. The single sold over 110,000 copies. She had her first major television appearance during the presentation of her debut single in front of almost 14 million viewers at the German Grand Prix preliminary decision in 2001. Further appearances at shows and major events followed.

Her second single, I Miss You (also known as Dam Dubi Dam ) stayed in the charts for ten weeks. The first pressing of the single was sold out within 13 days, which is why a new edition of the single with a different CD cover & design powered by Bild was released on August 31, 2001. The single was released as Dam Dubi Dam and then as I Miss You (Dam Dubi Dam) . Due to discrepancies with contracts, Fernandez and producer Dieter Bohlen went their separate ways at the end of 2001. Contrary to expectations, no new single was released in 2002 and 2003. Millane only appeared on a few events, sang in the Gospel Choir (Gospel Train Hamburg) and with artists such as Dave Dee, Mungo Jerry and Graham Harrison.

In 2003 she played in the musical Time After Time (performance at the Delphi Showpalast , Hamburg), alongside Horst Kuska (male lead musicologist Prof. van Seeberg ) the female lead Britney Westermann . The musical takes place in the year 2525. Using a time machine, the two search for the sound of the most exciting musical epoch (1959–1999). Millane sings the songs I Know Him Well , I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) , Lambada , 99 Luftballons , Unchained Melody , You've Got a Friend and many more. Before Fernandez, Juliette Schoppmann played the role of Britney . But when this became successful with Deutschland sucht den Superstar , Millane took over her part.

After a long time, their new single What a Good Man was released on June 28, 2004 with a new team and new record company (Edel / Uni4 Records) , which did not reach the German charts. The backing vocals in the song were taken over by Natalie Horler , singer of the German group ( Cascada ). The contract with Edel Music was canceled after a single. In 2005 she teamed up with producer Pierce Vaughn to resume songs. In 2007 she won the VJ Hunt at MTV Indonesia against 40,000 competitors and then moderated for some time at the station.

In 2010 Fernandez performed as "Ratna" for the musical "Gita Cinta" in Jakarta. In 2011 and 2012 her singles You Broke My Heart and Just You And I were released in Indonesia. Fernandez is currently under contract with Aquarius Musikindo, an Indonesian music label.

In 2014 Fernandez recorded the Indonesian version of Coca-Cola's World Cup song "The world is ours" with David Correy . In autumn 2014 she was a member of the jury for the Indonesian version of "Rising Star".
