Music and lyrics
The text is written from the first person perspective and describes the collective feeling of happiness when going out with a person.
The almost three and a half minute song follows the classification: intro , first verse, first chorus , second and third verse, second chorus, fourth verse, third and last chorus followed by an outro . The song is introduced by a vocal voice from the background singers Cascadas. They sing the title of the song "Glorious" in a high pitch. Natalie Horler's vocal part now begins . In her singing technique she uses a conscious overtone that gives her voice a rocky note.
In the first two stanzas, she asks her counterpart to let his emotions run free and not to concentrate on other people. In the further course she describes her own way of being and she promises him to accompany him on his further path.

In order to meet the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest, the song had to be shortened so that it has a three-minute version. At the Echo Awards 2013 , the group presented a preview version of their title. The final version was only heard on the final day of the Eurovision Song Contest (May 18).
Allegations of plagiarism
Many media and consumers wanted to see an allegedly strong resemblance to last year's winner Euphoria , von Loreen . Celebrities also spoke openly of plagiarism. The Institute for Linguistics at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel made an acoustic fingerprint . Phonetician Dr. Tina John stated, “Glorious looks like a copy of Euphoria with small, nifty stylistic changes. [...] At the beginning the vocals are absolutely identical, the refrain uses the same accentuation, the end culminates in an identical combination. The singers even use the same breathing style. ”The pauses, dynamics and beats would be largely identical.
After the negative reporting increased and demands for resignation were loud, the ARD commissioned a detailed report from the expert for plagiarism issues, Matthias Pogoda, who among other things works as a court expert and consultant. Matthias Pogoda's summary read: “It can be summarized that Glorious and Euphoria do not have any significant similarities in terms of copyright. They are only stylistically similar and only show a superficial contact in the arrangement without copyright concern. ”This confirms the assumption that lawyer Christian Solmecke had already expressed on request. Therefore, Thomas Schreiber, ARD entertainment coordinator, announced that Cascada would start in Malmö for Germany.
Music video
The music video was produced in the Great Hall of the historic town hall on Johannisberg in Wuppertal and celebrated its premiere on February 1, 2013; among other things, it was on the Internet - video portal YouTube uploaded. Directed by Lina Schütze , who was already involved in the production of music videos by other artists such as RIO and ItaloBrothers .
Eurovision Song Contest
Although Cascada and Glorious were given little chance of winning in the run-up to the event, they expected a placement in the front area. The bookmakers saw the trio consistently in the top ten of the competition. As the eleventh title presented in the final round, the title received only 18 points from six countries (6 points from Austria , 5 points from Israel , 3 points each from Albania and Spain and 1 point from Switzerland ) in the subsequent point allocation the final bill only took 21st place out of a total of 26 participants.
The entertainment coordinator of the NDR, Thomas Schreiber, saw the unexpectedly poor performance primarily due to political motivation:
“There is certainly also a political situation. I don't want to say '18 points for Angela Merkel '. But you also have to see that not only was Cascada there, but Germany was also on the stage. "
