Smile ( English for "smile") is a song by the German music project Star Search 1 - The Kids . The piece is the only single from the sampler Star Search 1 - The Kids .

Creation and artwork

The song was written and produced by Stargate members : Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen and Hallgeir Rustan. The single was released under the music label Polydor . The recordings took place in the Norwegian Stargate studio in Trondheim . On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to artist names and song titles - all the performers can be seen sitting together on a meadow. The photography is by Ben Wolf.

Publication and promotion

Smile was first published on August 18, 2003 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . In addition to the single, the maxi single also includes an extended version , as well as an instrumental karaoke version of the song as B-side . In Star Search 1 - The Kids is an amalgamation of all finalists of the first season of the talent show Star Search in the category "Music Act of 10 to 15 years." The singers Oliver John Bruton and Daniel Siegert , as well as the singers Senta-Sofia Delliponti and Jenniffer Kae were there . The song was only performed live once by all performers, during the Star Search final show. A year later the four released another single called Mother .

Smile reached position five in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the top 10 for two weeks and in the charts for nine weeks. In Austria the single reached position 26 in six chart weeks and in Switzerland position 34 in four chart weeks. Smile also placed 97th in the 2003 annual charts in Germany . It is the first chart success for all participating artists.
