Theix [tɛks] (Breton: Teiz ) is a village and a former French commune with last 6,946 inhabitants (2013) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belonged to the arrondissement of Vannes and the canton of Vannes-Est . The inhabitants are called Theixois (es) .
It was merged with the former municipality of Noyalo to form Commune nouvelle Theix-Noyalo with effect from January 1, 2016 . In the new municipality, only Noyalo has the status of a Commune déléguée . The administrative seat is in Theix.
geography
The city is close to the Gulf of Morbihan . Theix is surrounded by the neighboring towns of Treffléan in the north, Sulniac in the east, Lauzach and La Trinité-Surzur in the south-east, Surzur in the south, Noyalo in the south-west, Séné in the west and Vannes in the north-west.
Theix is on Route nationale 165 from Nantes to Brest . It was connected to the Chemins de fer du Morbihan network until 1947 .
