Creation and artwork

All pieces on the album were written by external, often changing, composers; Hannes Braun, Lukas Hainer, Hartmut Krech and Mark Nissen contributed to most of the pieces. Most of the songs were produced by Thorsten Brötzmann, Hartmut Krech and Mark Nissen. The album was released under the music labels Electrola and We Love Music and distributed through Universal Music Publishing . On the cover of the album - in addition to the artist name and song title - Oonagh, in a long red dress, can be seen standing on a raft . The cover picture was shot in Mexico .

Publication and promotion

Aeria was first published on March 13, 2015 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . The album consists of 13 new studio recordings. On November 13, 2015, the release of a deluxe version of the album entitled Sartoranta - Fan Edition followed . This has been expanded to include four bonus tracks, including two joint duets with the Irish band Celtic Woman .

In order to promote the album, there followed, among other things, live performances with the title Ananau - Where the Heights Reach Heaven at the ZDF TV Garden on Tour , as well as in the primetime shows Welcome to Carmen Nebel , The Best in Spring and the Helene Fischer Show .

Content and title list

All lyrics are written in German, Elvish and Quechua . In an interview, Delliponti stated that all texts were first written in German and that individual sections were translated afterwards. For the titles Tinta - Von der Liebe and Meldir vilui nîn , old traditional pieces were used. Musically, the songs move in the range of pop , folk , medieval and world music , as well as ethnic and new age . Central themes are the cohesion of earth , people and nature , as well as the deep desire for love , peace and mutual respect . All of Oonagh's songs are sung, with the voices of Billy King, Velile Mchunu and Alexandra Prince in the background . In the piece So still my heart she is played by Santiano and Oomph! supported. She is accompanied by Celtic Woman on the pieces Tír na nÓg and Christmas Secrets . The instrumentalists are Thorsten Brötzmann on keyboards, Sandro Friedrich on flutes and Jörn Heilbut on guitar.

Oonagh himself described Aeria in the following words: “The difference to the first album: On the first album I tried to combine the South African rhythms with my songs, and now I'm taking the rhythms with me on my second album, but it works on one completely different continent. It's going to South America, and this time I've tried to merge these sounds with my songs to make something new out of them. ... For me, Indians symbolize wisdom and spirituality and I find them incredibly inspiring and I think that also stimulated me to make such music. "

This list contains all concerts in chronological order that have been played or are still being played on the Oonagh Tour 2015 . 13 concerts are planned, all of which will take place in Germany. After Oonagh had supported Santiano on their Mit den Gezeiten Tour 2014 a year earlier , this is her first solo tour. At the concerts in Pahlen , Hamburg and Berlin , Oonagh is supported by Björn Both, a member of the Santiano band.

The tour should actually take place in autumn 2014. However, it had to be canceled at short notice because the production of the tour and the elaborate stage design took more time than expected.

Reviews

schlagerplanet.com rated the album as follows: “The music of Oonagh can be described as a modern variant of demanding program music. The singer's songs radiate size and breadth. With her powerful voice she shows an unbelievable presence and manages to hit the soft tones with feeling. And with every phase, with every note of a song, an image emerges in the listener's mind. At any time a dwarf could come around the corner and the voice of Senta-Sofia Delliponti takes us into a fabulous world of elves. Now Oonagh is bringing a new record to dream with, Aeria . "

laut.de rated the album rather negatively and stated among other things the following: “ Aeria unfortunately turns out to be musically unsatisfactory. The whole record screams at the listener boldly: 'I would like to be really cool' Lord of the Rings' / ' Game of Thrones ', but I would also like to bring fans of Schni-Schna-Schnappi , department store Indian jewelry , Helene Fischer and provincial ethnic slime on board ! ' ... Even the Elvish language gets an undeserved stigma on it. Caught in the bad overacting of typical casting show crows, where it only reaches the lowest of all musical art forms - the contemporary musical - the meaningless little voice of the former ' Dance of the Vampire ' act has little good and no charisma to offer. "

Charts and chart placements

Aeria reached position two in the album charts in Germany and stayed in the top 10 for a total of three weeks . In Austria, the album reached position 15 in the charts in eleven weeks. In Switzerland, the album reached position 41 in the charts in five weeks. Although the album didn't make it to number one, it was the most successful German-language album in the German album charts for a week . In 2015 Aeria placed 38th in the German annual album charts.

For Oonagh this is the second chart success in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In Germany, it is the second top 10 success in the album charts after Oonagh . To date, no Oonagh album has made it higher in the charts in Germany and Austria.
