Michael Bublé
Michael Steven Bublé [ maɪ̯kɫ̩.buː.bleɪ̯ ] (* 9. September 1975 in Burnaby , British Columbia ) is a Canadian - Italian jazz - singer . According to the sources, the four-time Grammy Award winner has sold more than 42.4 million records in his career. His most successful release is the album Christmas with over ten million units sold. Four of his albums reached number one in the UK and US charts.
biography
Early years
Michael Bublé's ancestors are of Croatian and Italian origin . He has two younger sisters: Brandee and Crystal who is an actress. Bublé grew up with his grandfather's jazz record collection. On his website , he highlights the great influence his grandfather had on his taste in music:
“My grandfather really was my best friend in my youth. He was the one who opened the door for me to a whole world of music that seems to have been completely ignored by my generation. Although I like rock 'n' roll and modern music, something magical happened when my grandfather first played me the Mills Brothers. The lyrics were so romantic, so real ... just what a song should be to me. It was as if I saw my future in a flash. I wanted to be a singer and I knew that this was the kind of music I wanted to sing. "
Bublé's Italian grandfather encouraged him to learn the jazz standards he was so fond of, and also to take part in a talent competition in Vancouver , which he initially won; however, he was subsequently disqualified because he was too young. When he was 17, he won first prize on a Canadian youth talent show.
In the next few years, Michael Bublé was able to record further musical successes. He appeared as Elvis on a red rock diner road show and sang as a star on a musical revue called Forever Swing . He was also seen in an episode of Death Game in 1996. He recorded several free albums, including one as a gift for his grandfather. Bublé received two Genie Awards in 2000 for compositions he co-wrote with Eric McCormac for the film Here's to Life .
Breakthrough as a wedding singer (2000-2004)
Bublé's breakthrough career was his version of Kurt Weill's Mack the Knife at the wedding of Brian Mulrony's daughter Caroline in 2000. Mulroney introduced Bublé to David Foster, a multiple Grammy-winning, producer and manager of Warner Brothers - who was already great how Josh Groban worked together. Foster signed Bublé to the record label 143 and began recording an album named after him in 2001 with Bublé. The album contains a spectrum of classics from different eras including Fever , The Way You Look Tonight , For Once in My Life , Van Morrisons Moondance and Lou Rawls You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine . The album was released in early 2003 and was placed early on the Canadian album charts. Chart successes in the US, UK, Australia and elsewhere followed shortly thereafter, making the album platinum and reaching the Top 10 album charts in the UK and Canada. It also led the Australian charts at number 1 and was also in the Top 50 of the Billboard 200 album charts . His interpretation of the piece Kissing a Fool by George Michael was released as a single and reached the Top 30 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart . How You Can Mend a Broken Heart also reached this Top30 as did his third single Sway , originally sung by Dean Martin. A Junkie XL remix of the song climbed to the Top 20 in Australia in May 2004.
Bublé won the 2004 Juno Awards Best New Talent and his album named after him was nominated for Album of the Year, but lost to Sam Roberts .
At the end of 2003 Bublé released the Christmas EP Let It Snow . This was initially intended as a bonus to the Christmas edition of his debut. The theme song Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! reached the top 40 in the singles charts in Australia. He released a live album and video titled Come Fly with Me in April 2004, which saw the video top 10 on the Billboard Video Chart . The album itself hit the Australian Top 50 album charts and the Billboard 200 album charts in late April .
Bublé appeared in other films, such as a karaoke singer in duets alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis , in 2001 in Totally Blonde and in 2003 in The Snow Walker .
Rise into the mainstream (2005-2007)
Bublé's second album, It's Time , was another great success, reaching top 10 positions in the charts worldwide. In Germany it was at number 2 on the album charts. On this album, too, he distinguished himself by rearranging and reinterpreting classics and standards.
In addition, his first original composition (together with David Foster's daughter Amy Foster-Gillies and Alan Chang) Home became a worldwide hit. The musicians are seasoned studio musicians like guitarist Dean Parks, who has worked with Steely Dan and Paul Simon , and people from the jazz industry like Israeli pianist Tamir Handelman. Foster's stepson Brandon Jenner is also there ( Save the Last Dance for Me ). In the studio versions, David Foster himself usually plays the piano or bass, and Alan Chang on tours and concerts. The arrangements are mostly written for big bands and strings . Home was first decoupled from It's Time , later also Feeling Good and finally Save the Last Dance for Me .
With Caught in the Act followed in 2005 a live album with the special bonus of the concert recording on DVD .
Call Me Irresponsible (2007-2009)
For his third studio album Call Me Irresponsible (2007), Bublé selected other swing and jazz titles, but it also contains two new pop compositions. His duets with Boyz II Men and Ivan Lins provide variety. Everything was released as the first single in spring 2007 , and in early November 2007 Lost was released individually. Both songs are not cover versions . In addition, now Me and Mrs. Jones , Comin 'Home Baby (on the radio as Frank pops remix heard) and some remixes of the Pink Panther classic It Had Better Be Tonight as a single available. The live CD Meets Madison Square Garden contains live versions of six tracks (seven in the fan edition) from this album. It was at the Grammy Awards 2010 in the category Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album award.
Crazy Love (2009)
On August 31, 2009, Bublé released his own composition Haven't Met You Yet as the pre-single of his album Crazy Love , which was finally released on October 9 in the USA and on October 16 in Germany. The album contains 12 tracks (plus the bonus track Whatever It Takes , which is included in all editions), of which Hold On was another song written by Bublé (together with Amy Foster and Alan Chang). He sings on All I Do Is Dream of You and Stardust with Naturally 7 , an a cappella group that Bublé has already accompanied on his tour. He interprets Baby (You've Got What It Takes) together with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. The album won the 2011 Grammy Awards for the third time the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album award .
To Be Loved (2013-2015)
Bublé's eighth album To Be Loved came out on April 15, 2013. He had already released the lead single It's a Beautiful Day on February 25, 2013 . The album contains 14 tracks; the deluxe edition has three additional bonus tracks. The album shot to number one on the Billboard 200, giving Bublé four consecutive number one albums on the US charts. In Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain To Be Loved immediately reached number one. In 2014 he re-released the album, with two songs from the original deluxe version ( Be My Baby and It's a Beautiful Day in a swing version) and My Melancholy Baby .
With this album, Bublé won his fourth Grammy in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category .
Nobody But Me (from 2015)
Bublé's work on his ninth studio album took longer than planned, as he had to undergo vocal cord surgery in early 2016, which subsequently required a break of several weeks. The album, released on October 21, 2016, is titled Nobody But Me . The lead single of the same name, on which a rapper worked for the first time with Black Thought by The Roots , was released without notice on August 19, 2016. A week later, Bublé launched By Invitation , his first women's perfume, which he found in a live chat presented on Facebook. At the same time, he announced a tour for 2017.
In October 2018, Bublé announced in an interview with the British Daily Mail that he wanted to end his career. The album Love , which he announced for November 2018, would be his last release. This turned out to be a false report a few days later. Bublé just wanted to make a joke that the tabloid reporter didn't flag as such.
Work on film projects
Bublé played a club owner named Van in the 2001 film Totally Blonde with Krista Allen and Maeve Quinlan . He often appeared as a singer. These songs were later released on the album Totally Bublé without his consent after he became better known . He can also be seen in the X-Files episodes The Enemy (2 parts).
Bublé was on the soundtracks for A Boss to Fall in Love with (2002) (with Come Fly with Me ), Down with Love - To the devil with love! (with Down with Love , For Once in My Life and Kissing a Fool ) and Big Wedding (with Save the Last Dance for Me ) involved.
Private life
Bublé has dual citizenship : in addition to Canadian citizenship, he has also had Italian citizenship since 2005.
Bublé was in a relationship with fellow British actress Emily Blunt , whom he met at one of his concerts. The relationship broke up in July 2008. In April 2011, he married the Argentine model Luisana Lopilato in Buenos Aires . In August 2013, Noah, the couple's first son, was born in Vancouver , followed by their second son Elias in January 2016. The family lives alternately in Buenos Aires and Vancouver. In November 2016, Bublé and Lopilato announced that they would temporarily step back from their jobs to take care of their son Noah, who had cancer ; in February 2017, they reported that the treatment was working well. At the end of July 2018, the couple's third child, daughter Vida Amber Betty, was born.
Bublé has been co-owner of the Vancouver Giants since December 2008 .
