Brooks & Dunn
Brooks & Dunn - consisting of Kix Brooks (born May 12, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana ) and Ronnie Dunn (born June 1, 1953 in Coleman, Texas ) - is one of the most successful duos in the history of country music . By 2009, they had 20 number 1 singles and six number 1 albums on the US country charts.
Musical career
Kix Brooks grew up in the neighborhood of Johnny Horton and played music with his daughter as a teenager. During this time he began to compose his first songs. In the early 1980s he moved to Nashville , where he quickly established himself as a songwriter. He also made some records, but they weren't particularly successful.
Ronnie Dunn came to Nashville after winning a talent competition. He found a job at the same music publisher that Brooks was working for. At first, they successfully wrote songs together. In 1990 they got a record deal. Their first single, Brand New Man , reached number 1 on the country charts. A year later, their debut album of the same name was released, from which other number 1 hits were released, including one of their greatest hits: Boot Scootin 'Boogie . The album went triple platinum. Almost all of the tracks were written by the duo themselves.
In 1993 their second album, Hard Working Man , was released, which also went platinum. Their streak of success continued in the following years, practically every single and every album reached high hit parade positions. Brooks & Dunn have received numerous awards, including the CMA Award Vocal Duo of the Year 14 times between 1991 and 2006 .
On August 10, 2009, the duo announced on their homepage that they were going their separate ways after The Last Rodeo Tour 2010. A few weeks later, the double CD # 1's… And Then Some was released , which includes all of Brooks & Dunn's number one successes.
At the end of 2014, the duo announced their reunion. Together with Reba McEntire , they performed the show Together in Vegas in Las Vegas the following year . The engagement at Caesars Palace was so successful that the show will continue to be performed there in 2018.
further activities
Kix Brooks is the presenter of the weekly radio music show "American Country Countdown Top 40" which is produced in the USA. This broadcast is in Germany every Sunday u. a. to be heard on AFN ( American Forces Network ) Heidelberg.
