Melrose Place (working title: Melrose Place 2.0 ) is an American television series produced by CBS Paramount Network Television for the small US broadcaster The CW from 2009 to 2010 . After Models Inc., it forms the second spin-off to the soap opera Melrose Place , which ran with great success on Fox in the 1990s . It's the fifth series in the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise, and is a more modern version of the original series from the 1990s. The series is about a group of young adults who live in an apartment complex in West Hollywood , California . The series is produced by Caroline Dries and Lisa Cochran-Neilan, while Smallville producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer were involved as show runners .

Due to falling audience ratings , the series was discontinued on May 19, 2010 after only one season.

action

David Breck is busy with one of his women acquaintances when he receives an SOS message from one of his previous affairs with Sydney Andrews. But she only sent him this message to lure him to her place. He remains reluctant at first and gets drunk, causing him to blackout . The next day, Sydney's corpse swims in the communal pool of the apartment complex in which Sydney's daughter Violet Foster also lives. David can't remember anything thanks to his blackout and is taken out of prison by Ella Simms thanks to a false alibi . The circumstances of the murder remain unsettled for the time being.

On the morning of the murder, Jonah Miller asks his longtime girlfriend, Riley Richmond, if she would like to marry him, but she requests a time to think about it. Medical student Lauren Yung also receives bad news because her father lost his job and has not paid her tuition fees for months .

characters

Ella Simms

Ella Simms comes from a rather poor background. Upon her arrival in Los Angeles, Sydney took Ella in and helped her rise in society. Ella works as a publicist in the PR agency WPK and after his stay in prison gave David a false alibi on suspicion that he had murdered Sydney. Ella has had feelings for Jonah for a long time, which is why she tries to talk him out of getting married to Riley. At WPK, she often clashes with her manager, Amanda Woodward. After Jonah breaks off his engagement to Riley, the two sleep together. She now thinks she can have a real relationship with him, but he admits that she still has feelings for Riley.

Lauren Yung

Dr. Lauren Yung is a third year medical student and shares an apartment with Ella. She learns that her father has lost his job and can no longer pay for her tuition fees. Which is why she eventually starts to work as a prostitute, which she keeps a secret from her friends. At the hospital, she joins Dr. Michael Mancini's team and falls in love with his son David and, after contradictions due to prostitution, enters into a relationship with him. But Michael finds out that she is selling her body and thus wants to destroy the relationship between the two. She admits her sideline to her friends, which initially leads to the break between David and Lauren, but the two find each other again.

Riley Richmond

Riley Richmond is a primary school teacher and has been with Jonah since college, with whom she shares an apartment on Melrose Place. The two become engaged, but as a result, they become more and more distant and fall into each other more often, which is why they break up their engagement and end their relationship. Riley works as a model at WPK , but doesn't follow Amanda Woodward's rules, so Amanda makes sure that Riley loses her job in elementary school. She befriends a new resident at Melrose Place, Dr. Drew Pragin, a medical student like Lauren. She falls in love with him and the two start a relationship.

Jonah Miller

Jonah Miller is a budding filmmaker and has been with Riley since college. He makes her a proposal and she accepts it, but that makes the two of them grow apart. While Riley is jealous of the good friendship between Jonah and Ella, Jonah is furious that Auggie has her eye on Riley. They cancel the engagement and end their relationship. Ella helps Jonah sell his first script to a film producer. The two start a relationship, but Jonah is still very attached to Riley, which is why he breaks up with Ella.

David Breck

After his mother's death, David was taken over by his biological father, Dr. Michael Mancini adopted, with whom he does not have a good relationship, however, with his little half-brother Noah. He fell in love with Sydney and the two had an affair. On the night of the murder, he learned that Sydney and his father had slept together during the David and Sydney affair after the two divorced. When Sydney is murdered, David is suspected, but he gets a false alibi from Ella, who says that the two were together on the night of the murder. He believes Michael killed Sydney, which is why he's investigating. He learns that he is Noah's father, which leads to another argument between him and his father. He is unemployed, which is why he breaks in and sells the stolen items, but Lauren finds out why he has to promise her not to do so. The two have feelings for each other and begin a relationship, but the two of them break up when he learns that she is prostituting herself. However, you dare to start over. David wants to buy the coal , but has too little money for it, which is why he carries out another break-in, but is caught there by a young woman named Morgan. She blackmails him to sleep with her and her father pressures David to break into the house for him.

Violet Foster

Violet Foster is from Oregon and is a new resident of Melrose Place. She finds Sydney's body in the swimming pool. Shortly afterwards it turns out that Violet is the daughter of Sydney. She gets a job as a waitress at the Coal through Auggie . She falls in love with him and the two start an affair. When she learns that Michael did great harm to Sydney, she also thinks that he killed Sydney, which is why she wants revenge. She starts flirting with him and the two of them have sex, which she films. However, he turns the tables so that she has nothing against him in her hand. She discovers that Michael's wife Vanessa killed Sydney and confronts her at Melrose Place, where a fight ensues and they both fall into the swimming pool and Violet drowns Vanessa. Amanda Woodward witnessed this incident and later testified in Violet's favor before the police. Shortly thereafter, Auggie and Violet leave Los Angeles.

Auggie Kirkpatrick

Auggie Kirkpatrick works as a cook at Coal , who became addicted to alcohol after his girlfriend Danine was stabbed to death in front of his eyes. Auggie met Sydney at Alcoholics Anonymous, she got him back on track and the two began an affair. After the murder of Sydney he is suspected and is eventually arrested, but his name is later washed off. After Jonah and Riley's betrothal broke up, Auggie wanted to start a relationship with Riley, but Riley was turned off again and he relapsed alcohol. Violet helps him during this time and the two drive away from Los Angeles together.
