Ashlee Simpson (2008)

Ashlee Nicole Simpson Ross (* 3. October 1984 in Waco , Texas as Ashlee Nicole Simpson ) is an American singer and actress . She is the younger sister of singer and actress Jessica Simpson .

Music career

Simpson started her career in the role of Cecilia in the television series A Heavenly Family . After that, she had her own show The Ashlee Simpson Show on MTV , which she accompanied from signing her first record deal to her first appearance. This show made Simpsons famous and had a lot of viewers.

The first single Pieces of Me catapulted their debut album Autobiography directly to number 1. To date, the album has sold almost 3 million times. In the course of the album release, Simpson traveled across the States, playing her own tour to always sold out houses. On this tour, she became friends with Gwen Stefani . The success was overshadowed by a failed appearance on the Saturday Night Live show in October 2004, when the wrong playback was played at Simpsons' alleged live performance and the disgraced singer left the stage in front of the audience.

Her second album, I Am Me , was released in autumn 2005 . In the USA, the album went straight to number 1 in the album charts, just like its predecessor. In Germany, the album did not make it into the top 100. One reason for this was the very limited edition of the album, of which only 2500 copies were made. The first single Boyfriend became Simpson's second highest-selling single. It reached the top 20 in the US, and the single was also a little higher in the charts in Germany. The track is about Ashlee denying having cheated on her friend's boyfriend. The girlfriend was believed to be actress Lindsay Lohan until Simpson denied the rumor. She doesn't want to call the person by name. In March 2006 Simpson released the second single LOVE in the US. In August the single was also released in Germany, but could not assert itself in the single charts. It came in at number 22 in the United States.

Due to the increasing criticism of her music and because of the rumors about her and Lindsay Lohan, Ashlee Simpson covered the song Invisible , which she released in the USA in mid-2006. There the single came to number 21. The song describes a famous person's relationship to their past and the people who now claim to have known them when they were still "invisible". The single was not released in Germany. The original version of the song was recorded by the band Jaded Era .

On May 2, 2008 Simpson's third album Bittersweet World was released . Her first single Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya) was produced by Timbaland and only reached number 121 in the USA. On May 3, 2008 Simpson was seen at the Bravo Super Show 2008 in Nuremberg.

In 2012 Simpson unsuccessfully released the single Bat for a Heart and a video to go with it. She has not released any other music since then.

Private

From 2008 to 2011 Simpson was married to Pete Wentz , bassist for Fall Out Boy , and changed her name to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. The two became parents to their son Bronx Mowgli on November 20, 2008. On February 9, 2011, it was announced that Simpson and Wentz were divorcing. The reason given for the divorce was "irreconcilable differences". She applied for joint custody with visiting rights for Wentz and spouse maintenance. She also requested that her name be changed back to Ashlee Nicole Simpson. The couple divorced on November 22, 2011.

On August 30, 2014, she married the actor Evan Ross , son of Diana Ross . She also adopted a second surname as Ashlee Simpson-Ross, but continues to appear in public under her previous name. Their daughter was born in July 2015.
