Jessica Ann Simpson (* 10. July 1980 in Abilene , Texas ) is an American pop - singer and actress . She is the older sister of Ashlee Simpson .

Career

Simpson's first single, I Wanna Love You Forever , which was released in the fall of 1999, reached number three on the American Billboard charts, the accompanying debut album Sweet Kisses landed at number 25 on the American album charts and went double platinum. In spring 2001, the equally successful album Irresistible followed , from which the single of the same name and A Little Bit were decoupled. Outside of the US, Jessica Simpson was initially unsuccessful.

In 2003, Jessica Simpson and her then-husband Nick Lachey (singer of the US boy group 98 Degrees ) starred in the reality show Newlyweds on MTV . In September of the same year, she released her third album, In This Skin , which placed second on the album charts.

In 2005 Simpson continued working on her acting career. In Ein Duke Comes Alone , a remake of the 1970s television series of the same name, she played the role of Daisy Duke . For the film, she also contributed a cover version of the Nancy Sinatra hit These Boots Are Made for Walkin ' , which was her biggest hit so far and was placed in the top 5 worldwide.

Simpson released the album A Public Affair in August 2006 , which was also available in Germany from the beginning of February 2007. The sales figures were only weak internationally and the reviews were sometimes very negative.

Simpson then worked on the creation of her first country album Do You Know , which was released in the USA in autumn 2008. The first single, Come On Over , was available there from August, but it was able to reach number 65 in the pop singles chart and number 18 in the country singles charts through downloads. In Germany and other European countries neither single nor album could reach high chart positions. In 2009 she wrote the song Never Not Beautiful for the English singer Calvin Goldspink .

In May 2010 the song Who We Are reached number 30 on the US charts. The corresponding album should be released in September, but was then postponed to April 2011. To date she has sold more than 30 million CDs.

Life

Jessica Simpson's father, who is also her manager, was originally a Baptist pastor, and Jessica began singing in the church choir of his ward. At the age of 12 she took part in an audition for the Mickey Mouse Club , without success .

From 2002 to 2005 Simpson was married to Nick Lachey , who worked up the marriage in his solo album What's Left of Me after their separation . With the song he won the Teen Choice Award 2006 for best love song .

In 2006/2007 Simpson was with the musician John Mayer and from November 2007 to July 2009 she was in a relationship with Dallas Cowboys - quarterback Tony Romo . She has been in a relationship with ex-footballer Eric Johnson since May 2010. The two got engaged in November 2010. In October 2011, it became known that Simpson was pregnant. On May 1, 2012, she became the mother of a daughter. She gave birth to a boy in June 2013. Since July 5, 2014 Simpson is married to Eric Johnson. The wedding took place on a ranch in California. On March 19, 2019, she gave birth to another girl.

She currently resides in Beverly Hills .
