Autobiography

Autobiography is Ashlee Simpson's debut album, which was released in 2004. Ashlee released three singles from the album. In the US, the album made it to the top of the charts in the first week.

background

After Ashlee's sister Jessica had recently received a reality TV series on MTV about their first marriage ( Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica ), Ashlee's father negotiated another contract with the music broadcaster. Her TV show "The Ashlee Simpson Show" was essentially about Ashlee Simpson's music career. Viewers were able to follow the whole process from songwriting to production, recording, video shooting, publishing and performing live. As the album title suggests, Ashlee also uses autobiographical elements in the show and in her lyrics.

The first season of the series ran in the US from June 16 to August 4, 2004 and was at times broadcast directly after her sister's series. In the fourth episode, the first single Pieces Of Me was created . The album Autobiography , which was released before the series was completed on July 20, immediately reached number 1 on the US album charts and has already been certified three times platinum . The album and second single Shadow are the theme of the first season.

In early 2005, a second season was added, which was more about the appearances and sometimes family events of the Simpsons. The third and final single from the album La La will be released during the first episodes of the ten-part season.

Single releases

Pieces of Me is Ashlee's first ever single. In the USA it was Ashlee's most successful song (number 5 in the charts), as well as in Great Britain (number 4) and the German-speaking countries.

Shadow is the second single and the third track on the album "Autobiography". In the song, Ashlee describes her childhood and herself.

La La is Ashlee's third release from the album "Autobiography" and Ashlee's third single. On the album, La La is track number four. The rock song is about Ashlee's sexual fantasies. "You Make Me Wann La La" (Eng. You make me that I want La La) are the first words of the chorus. She wants to have sex with people, but she doesn't mention them in the song. You can't see this in the video either. The video is easy to set up, contains shaky images and quick cuts. You can see Ashlee with friends on the street during the day, a pool party at night, where Ashlee throws men into the pool. And at the end they go to a laundromat because the police evicted them from the pool party. Ashlee is moving strangely in the video, which suggests that the feeling is driving her crazy and that she wants to do it right now. In the song Ashlee describes how she imagines intercourse and clearly states that she has waited a long time and doesn't want to wait any longer.
