Ian Andrew Ziering (born March 30, 1964 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American actor . Ziering was best known for his role as Steven "Steve" Sanders in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210 , in which he played from 1990 to 2000.

Life

Ian Ziering was born in Newark in March 1964, the youngest of three children to Paul and Micki Ziering, and grew up in West Orange , New Jersey. At the age of twelve, Ziering first appeared in front of the camera for television commercials. He gained his first acting experience in the role of Nile in the Broadway musical I Remember Mama , which was performed in New York City from May to September 1979.

His first film role was that of Sammy Butterfield in the romantic drama Endless Love (1981) with Brooke Shields in the lead role. This was followed by engagements in television series such as Springfield Story and A Terribly Nice Family , before Ziering received a leading role in the youth series Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990 . The portrayal of Steven "Steve" Sanders made Ziering world famous and he starred in the role in a total of 292 episodes from 1990 to 2000.

Since the end of Beverly Hills, 90210 , Ziering has had some guest appearances on television series such as JAG - On behalf of the honor , Hello Holly and CSI: NY .

In spring 2007, Ziering took part in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars , the US counterpart to the RTL show Let's Dance . He made it to the semifinals with his professional dance partner Cheryl Burke.

In addition to his work for television, the actor works as a representative for cosmetic products.

From 1997 to 2002 Ziering was married to the actress Nikki Schieler . In May 2010, Ziering married the nurse Erin Ludwig. His wife gave birth to their first child, a daughter, on April 25, 2011.
