Jessica Marie Alba (born April 28, 1981 in Pomona , California ) is an American actress and entrepreneur . She was best known for the role of Max Guevara in the science fiction television series Dark Angel in 2000 .

Alba's parents are the Mexican -born American Marc Alba and the Montreal- born Canadian Catherine Jensen, who has Danish and French-Canadian ancestors. The two married in their youth. Alba is a US, Canadian, and Mexican citizen .

Alba has a younger brother named Joshua , who is also an actor and was in front of the camera with her on Dark Angel . Her father was employed by the United States Air Force ; which is why she moved several times in her childhood. Among other things, she lived in Biloxi in the US state Mississippi and in Del Rio in Texas . When Alba was nine years old, the family settled in California. Alba describes her childhood as rather difficult. According to her own statements, she was bullied because of her buck teeth and her Texan accent and, due to frequent illnesses, was unable to bond with classmates. Alba suffered from severe asthma at the time and had a lot of pneumonia as a child .

Private

While filming the Dark Angel series , Alba began a three-year relationship with fellow actor Michael Weatherly , which caused controversy over the twelve-year age difference. In August 2003, both announced their separation. Alba met producer Cash Warren while filming Fantastic Four in 2004 . They got engaged on December 27, 2007 and married on May 19, 2008. On June 7, 2008, Alba gave birth to their first child, a girl, in Los Angeles . In July 2008 the magazine OK! the first baby photos it paid $ 1.5 million for. Their second daughter was born on August 13, 2011. Their third child, a boy, was born on December 31, 2017.

Alba has been interested in acting since she was five. When she was eleven, she entered an acting competition, emerged victorious, and won free acting lessons with Felicity Huffman . Nine months later, she signed her first contract. As a child, Alba starred in two commercials for Nintendo and the US department store chain JC Penney . After that she was seen in several independent films.

Alba had her first film role in the film Vacation Totally Crazy in 1994. Originally she was only scheduled for a small supporting role, but when another actress failed, she took on her much larger role. In the same year she appeared in three episodes of the Nickelodeon series What is wrong with Alex Mack? on TV. After this time she appeared as Maya in the series Flippers New Adventures . It turned out to be beneficial that her mother, who was a lifeguard, had taught her to swim very early on. She is also a diver, which was also integrated into the series filmed in Australia .

Alba made her breakthrough with the James Cameron- produced series Dark Angel in the role of Max Guevara , who fights for the good as a genetically modified soldier in a post-apocalyptic America. Before filming began, Alba trained for her role for a year, including learning to ride a motorcycle . In 2013 she took on a role in the comedy A.COD and spoke for the animated film Nix wie weg - one of the characters from planet earth . In the sequel Machete Kills she played her role again as Sartana from the previous film .

In addition to her work as an actress, Alba founded The Honest Company with her business partner Chris Gavigan in January 2012 , which offers a collection of non-toxic housewares , diapers and personal care products. Her first book was published in early 2013, called The Honest Life .

Others

In March 2006, a photo of her appeared on the front page of the Playboy , on which she was seen wearing a bikini . The photo was originally taken for the film Into The Blue . Alba sued the magazine because the picture was printed without their consent. After a personal apology from Hugh Hefner , she withdrew the lawsuit.

In 2007 she was voted "Sexiest Woman in the World" by FHM magazine .

In 2015 she starred in the video for Bad Blood by Taylor Swift .
