Rings made of precious metal (rarely made of iron) that were worn as jewelry on the head are referred to as headdress rings.

Such rings are found in archaeological finds as ear , temple or curly rings .

Headdress rings are usually found in pairs on the skull , but individual rings or larger collections of rings are also possible. There are headdress rings from both men's and women's graves, although they were much more often part of female costume jewelry . The oldest examples date back to the Neolithic Age .
