LA's Finest is an American crime film - television series , designed by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier and produced by Sony Pictures Television . The series is a spin-off of the Bad Boys film series, in which two opposing, but in this case female, investigators have to come to terms with each other as partners. The main roles are played by Gabrielle Union , who continues her role from Michael Bays Bad Boys II , and Jessica Alba . The series first aired on May 13, 2019 on Spectrum and is the US cable TV company's first in-house production. The series made its debut in Germany on October 17, 2019 on the pay-TV channel AXN .

Former DEA agent Syd Burnett dares to restart as an investigator at the LAPD , where she is assigned Nancy McKenna as a new partner. She married a man who brought two daughters into the marriage and a little envied Burnett for their independence. The two lead completely different lives, but function as a first-class team of investigators.
