action

The unsuccessful actor Stretch is stranded in Los Angeles and is gambling his way through life. To old gambling debts to pay off, he worked as a limousine - Chauffeur . He 's looking for a replacement for his great love and ex-girlfriend Candace via a dating app .

Suddenly, the rest of his $ 6,000 gambling debt falls due within 24 hours, leaving Stretch in an uncomfortable position. In order to raise the necessary money within the required time, he accepts an unusual assignment from Charlie, the attractive employee in the chauffeur service office: his mysterious and eccentric customer is the millionaire Roger Karos, who solves his money problem with a generous "tip “Promises. In return, Stretch accepts many unusual requests from its apparently crazy passenger. So he has to take him to a dissolute secret party and is supposed to pick up a suitcase full of money from a French gangster in a given short period of time and bring it to him. In return, the gangster will ask for certain documents to be picked up. Stretch does not have this, which means that he pretends to be a high-ranking police officer with a false police badge (a film prop that the previous passenger and actor Ray Liotta left behind in his car next to a (blank) pistol). He threatens anger on the part of his authority and is given the suitcase. However, the gangster is himself a police officer from the FBI and was in an undercover operation to arrest Karos. So he and his people pursue Stretch unobserved. Meanwhile, on the way to his client, he has to deal with the competition and stressful customers who have since entered the market. He also meets Candace by chance, and in order to avenge the pain of his loss, he successfully plays the “great, important man” he is now supposed to be. Stretch is cheated of his promised tip by Karos. His debt collectors also get hold of him and the film ends in a furious orgy of arrests.

Events show that Stretch has the talent to be a good actor, which the FBI agent confirms to him. At dawn, Stretch staggers dirty and exhausted into a breakfast bar. There he meets the unknown woman who contacted him via dating app during the night. To his pleasant surprise, she turns out to be his colleague Charlie.

Reviews

The film received 82% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and was positively rated by 64% of the audience.

“Patrick Wilson just fits into the role of the suffering almost actor who actually cannot really afford a life with his limo driver job. He brings the desperation, the insane, the suffering but also the high feelings across so real that one takes it from him every second. "

"... and while Stretch is a little rough around the edges it's also endearing, often exciting and packed with laughs."
