Chris Pine
Christopher Whitelaw Pine (born August 26, 1980 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor and voice actor .
Life
Chris Pine's parents, Robert Pine and Gwynne Gilford, are actors. His maternal grandmother, Anne Gwynne , was also an actress. Chris received his bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 . As part of his studies, he completed a year abroad at the University of Leeds . He also studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco .
He made his camera debut in 2003 on an episode of the television series Emergency Room . His first movie role in the comedy The Princess Diaries 2 (2004) by Garry Marshall alongside Anne Hathaway , Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo . In the thriller Confession (2005) he took on one of the leading roles, while his father Robert Pine appeared in a supporting role. He and Lindsay Lohan played the leading roles in the comedy Kissed Fortunately (2006) . In the 2009 reboot of Star Trek , directed by JJ Abrams , Pine took on the lead role of the young James T. Kirk , previously played by William Shatner .
In 2014 he played alongside Meryl Streep , Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp in the musical film Into the Woods . In the same year he took on the role of Jack Ryan in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit . For his convincing portrayal of a member of the rescue team in The Finest Hours , Chris Pine was named Honorary Coast Guard Chief by the local Coast Guard on January 28, 2016 at the premiere of the film in Boston . On July 14, 2016, he received his first Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category for the series SuperMansion . In 2017 he played the role of Steve Trevor in the DC film Wonder Woman alongside Gal Gadot and Robin Wright .
In addition to working in front of the camera, Pine also regularly performs in the theater. In the summer of 2002 he starred in two productions at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts . In 2006 he appeared in the one-person play The Atheist at the Center Stage in New York. He starred in 2007 at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles in the play Fat Pig .
In 2009 he played again at the Geffen Playhouse in the play Farragut North . In 2010 he played in the play The Lieutenant of Inishmore at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, for which he received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award. He can be seen alongside many other stars in the music video for Paul McCartney's song Queenie Eye . Pine can be heard as a duet partner on Barbra Streisand's 2016 album ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway .
Since 2014 he has been the face of the advertising campaign for the Armani Code fragrance.
