Ludwig Göransson

Ludwig Göransson (born September 1, 1984 in Linköping , Sweden ) is a Swedish composer and music producer .

biography

At the age of seven, Göransson was given his first instrument, an electric guitar. The Norrköping Symphony Orchestra performed his first composition when he was 16 years old. He later studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm . During this time he founded his own jazz quintet, Fabulous Five , with which he not only fulfilled smaller composition commissions, but also took part in several music competitions. After winning a music competition in Amsterdam in 2007 , he was awarded a contract with Massive Music . He then moved to Los Angeles and began composing for short films and commercials. He studied film composition for another year at the University of Southern California before he began working as a film composer with music for the television series Community in 2009 . With the two comedies 30 minutes or less and Worst. Prom. Ever. Göransson made his debut in 2011 as a composer for feature films. From 2011 to 2012 Göransson was responsible for the music for the sitcom New Girl . He was also responsible for the music for the sitcom Happy Endings from 2011 until it was canceled in 2013. Under his pseudonym Ludovin, he also released an EP entitled How to Find a Party .

While working on Community he met Donald Glover , who played the role of Troy Barnes in the series . Glover, known as Childish Gambino as a musician and rapper , contacted Göransson because he needed a producer for his mixtape Culdesac . Göransson has since worked regularly with Glover, including on his albums Camp , Because the Internet and “Awaken, My Love!” , as well as the song This Is America , which debuted at number 1 on the American Billboard Hot 100 . He received a total of three Grammy Awards and an Oscar in 2019 for working on the song and on the album Black Panther: The Album .
