Eberhard Georg von Gemmingen

Eberhard Georg von Gemmingen (born July 30, 1754 in Magdeburg ; † November 7, 1806 in Megyes , Hungary) was the landlord in Rappenau with a lease in Hungary.

Life

He was the son of Eberhard von Gemmingen (1713–1757), who died as a Prussian major while retreating from Bohemia on the Ruhr, and Johanna von Graevenitz from Magdeburg. When his father died, from whom he inherited the property in Rappenau, Eberhard Georg was only three years old, so that he was initially under the tutelage of his grandfather Eberhard (1688–1767), fortress commander in Luxembourg, and after his death under the tutelage of his Uncle Sigmund (1724–1806), landlord in Treschklingen, who finally handed over the inherited property to him in 1779.

Eberhard Georg studied in Tübingen, the cavalier tour took him to Switzerland and France. In 1774 he came to the Reich Chamber of Commerce in Wetzlar . In 1776, the year of his marriage, he was elected to the council of knights. His focus was on improving agriculture, for which he also traveled extensively. At the suggestion of Prince Kaunitz, he turned to Hungary to revive agriculture there as well. With financial support from his uncle Sigmund, he leased large estates in Hungary. Both Eberhard Georg and Sigmund died in Hungary. Eberhard Georg was buried in the German church in Mezőberény .

From 1776 he was married to Charlotte von Mentzingen (1750–1795). After the early death of his wife, the children were raised by his sister Ferdinande (1756-1804) in Rappenau. As Eberhard George at the time of his death in 1806 had no male heir, his uncle stepped Sigmund in succession one, however, also died in the same year so that Eberhard George possession of Sigmund's son of the same name Sigmund came (1777-1843) connected Eberhard George Daughter Charlotte was married.
