The following table lists the governors of Kerala with their respective terms of office. Before the state of Kerala was founded in 1956, the former maharaja of Travancore Bala Rama Varma II (1912–1991) was head of state ("Rajpramukh") of the predecessor state of Travancore-Cochin in the Indian Union from 1949 to 1956 .
