action
Calvin Joyner leads a normal life as an accountant and is married to his high school sweetheart Maggie. However, he is dissatisfied with his life because everyone had predicted a great career for him 20 years earlier when he left high school. There are also problems with her marriage to Maggie. Shortly before the anniversary celebration, Calvin received a contact request on Facebook from Robbie, a former classmate who now calls himself Bob Stone. Robbie used to be very overweight and was bullied at school. Calvin, who has no idea what happened to Robbie, meets him in a bar.
At the meeting, it turns out that Bob has lost a lot of weight and looks like a fitness trainer because he has been training hard for the past 20 years. When it comes to an argument with other guests at the bar, it turns out that Bob is also extremely good at fighting. Bob adores Calvin because he helped him out of an embarrassing situation and didn't tease him too. Bob asks Calvin for help with an alleged accounting problem and for a place to stay. Together they look at Bob's transaction account online. The next morning the CIA is at Calvin's house looking for Bob, who has already disappeared. Under the direction of Pamela Harris, Calvin is questioned and learns that Bob is a former CIA agent who is said to have stolen secret codes and killed his partner. Bob, on the other hand, portrays that a stranger murdered his partner Phil and it should have hit him. Calvin is shocked and unsure who to believe.
As a result, there are several arrest attempts by the CIA, in which Bob repeatedly escapes. Sometimes with the involuntary help of Calvin. After a few situations in which Bob kept coming back to Calvin, Calvin became increasingly convinced that Bob was telling the truth. However, for fear of the CIA, he extradites Bob. When Harris uses improper methods during interrogation, he changes his mind again and helps Bob escape.
Together they set out to hand over the transaction codes and unmask the real behind. At the handover it comes to a showdown in which the CIA reappears and it looks like Harris himself is the traitor. After Calvin is shot at by Bob, Bob seems to be the traitor again, but then his partner Phil, who was believed to be dead, appears and reveals himself to be the actual seller of the codes. Calvin vacillates again who the real bad guy is and takes the codes. He is caught by both of them and a fight breaks out between Bob and Phil, in which Calvin now shoots Bob and so gives Phil the upper hand. He believes he has won and reveals himself: He stole the codes and only faked his death in order to be able to go into hiding and make Bob appear as the perpetrator. Calvin turns around for the last time and outsmarts the traitor Phil, whereupon he can be arrested and Bob is rehabilitated.
At the end of the day, Bob meets his childhood sweetheart Darla again. Calvin, who has gained a lot of self-confidence and got a job with the CIA from Harris, is also happily married to Maggie.
