Timothy "Tim" Collins Griffin (born 1969 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor .

life and career

Tim Griffin was born the son of a cardiologist . He discovered his passion for acting in high school when he portrayed Oliver Twist in a play .

He attended Francis Parker High School. His classmates included Paul Adelstein and Anne Heche . Griffin studied English literature at the University of Vermont . He also received one after some time scholarship for the University of Kent in England .

Griffin's first appearance on a television series was in 1989 on ABC Afterschool Specials . This was followed by appearances in China Beach and Against the Grain . Since 1997 he has appeared in numerous television series. These include Pacific Blue - The Beach Police , Party of Five , Charmed - The Magic Witches , JAG - On behalf of Honor , 24 , Navy CIS, and Emergency Room - The Emergency Room . Between 2005 and 2007 he was in a total of five episodes of the series Grey's Anatomy as Ronny O'Malley , the brother of TR Knights character George . He then took over in CSI: Miami , Bones - The Bone Hunter , Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten and Lie to Me guest roles. 2009 followed a role in the film Star Trek . Griffin had his first leading role in a series from 2011 to 2012 in the series Prime Suspect alongside Maria Bello . In 2012 an arc of four episodes in Covert Affairs followed . There he played the role of Seth Newman .

He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Alicia Carr and their two children .
