Against the Grain is the fifth studio album by the punk band Bad Religion and was released in 1990. For many, this album is considered Bad Religion's best release, and it features songs that, in turn, rank among the band's best recordings such as Anesthesia, Walk Away and Modern Man . The most famous song 21st Century (Digital Boy) was re-recorded in 1994 for the album Stranger Than Fiction .

Against the Grain is the last album with Pete Finestone on drums, because he wanted to concentrate more on his band project The Fisherman and was replaced by Bobby Schayer shortly before the next album Generator .

Like all albums from the early phase of the band (except Into the Unknown ) Against the Grain was re-released in 2004 in a digitally revised version. However, 1991 was incorrectly stated as the year of release of the original album in the new edition, although it was released in November 1990.
