No Substance is the tenth studio album by the punk band Bad Religion and also the second album after the departure of guitarist, co-songwriter and founding member Brett Gurewitz . The album, like the previous one, was written and recorded jointly by the band. The style of the album is much more poppy than its predecessor and is therefore often viewed by fans as "the band's worst album ever". After the album was released, the band was accused of lacking the dynamism and aggressiveness typical of Bad Religion and that the melodies developed more and more in the direction of catchy pop songs. Not a single song on the album was found in the band's live repertoire.

Campino , singer of the German punk band Die Toten Hosen , made a guest appearance on the album. He sings Raise Your Voice with Greg Graffin . This song was played live with Greg Graffin at Rock am Ring von den Toten Hosen in 2012 .

In Germany, the album was released by the record company Dragnet Records, a sub-label of Epic Records , and thus by Sony Music Entertainment .
