Suffer is the 3rd album by the punk rock band Bad Religion , which was released in 1988 and marked the breakthrough (in international punk circles) for the band. It is the first album by the band with the original line-up since their (partial) breakup in 1984.
Recordings
The album was recorded and mixed in eight days by Brett Gurewitz and Donnell Cameron in April 1988 at Westbeach Recorders Studio in Hollywood .
success
Suffer had an important part in the punk revival of the 1990s due to its great influence on the California punk scene. In addition, the success of the album made a significant contribution to the success of the Epitaph label, which punk bands such as B. The Offspring , NOFX , Rancid and Pennywise subsequently signed. Fat Mike, singer and bassist of NOFX, referred to it as a " record that changed everything " in reference to the American punk revival of the 90s and reviewed it (as did Chuck Ragan, singer and guitarist of Hot Water Music ) in the 250th issue of the music magazine Visions as the album that had the greatest musical influence on him. When NOFX were on the verge of dissolution after their first European tour in the summer of 1988 due to unsuccessfulness, the recently released album Suffer by Bad Religion inspired the demotivated singer Fat Mike to hone the musical skills of NOFX to do something as great as this Bad Religion - Create album.
