Creed II - Rocky's Legacy (Original title: Creed II ) is an American boxer film directed by Steven Caple Jr. from 2018 and at the same time a spin-off to the Rocky film series and the sequel to Creed - Rocky's Legacy . The film is a co-production by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer , Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The US premiere took place on November 14, 2018 in New York City . It was released in US cinemas on November 21, 2018 and in German cinemas on January 24, 2019.

After losing to "Pretty" Ricky Conlan, Adonis Creed scores a series of victories that shake the World Heavyweight Championship. Celebrated as a global star, Adonis proposes to his girlfriend Bianca, which she accepts. When Bianca suggests that they start a new life in Los Angeles , Adonis hesitates to finally leave his life in Philadelphia behind. At the same time, Ivan Drago, a former Soviet boxer who had killed Apollo Creed in the ring thirty years earlier, senses the opportunity to regain the glory that Rocky Balboa had stolen from him after Apollo's death by playing against his son Viktor Drago Adonis wants to compete. When Rocky refuses to support Adonis' decision to accept Viktor's challenge, Adonis decides to make his way to Los Angeles.

The fight takes place in New York , Adonis is trained by Tony "Little Duke" Evers. However, Viktor Drago surprises with powerful blows that Adonis repeatedly send on the boards. Drago finally breaks two ribs, and when Adonis is still kneeling on the floor, Viktor strikes again, which leads to a disqualification. Adonis faints and wakes up in the hospital. Rocky sets out to help him. In the months that followed, Adonis focused on his recovery and Bianca, who gave birth to a deaf daughter.

The Dragos have now returned to Russia and are slowly being accepted again by the local elite. They also meet Ivan's ex-wife Ludmilla, who, however, has no relation to her son Viktor. Viktor wants to continue working only with his father, continues to successfully fight fights and insists on meeting Creed again. Since he has not yet lost his world championship title, but is under time pressure to have to complete a defensive battle, he ultimately accepts the challenge again. This time Rocky pledges his support and travels with him and Little Duke into the desert to be "reborn" through hard training with former prison inmates and failed personalities. He uses the same training method that Adonis' father Apollo successfully completed with Rocky to reawaken his fighting spirit.

The rematch finally takes place in Moscow . Adonis is now better prepared and skillfully dodges Dragos' hard blows, but continues to receive heavy hits. The fight is very even over the rounds, but also extremely bloody. After Ludmilla Drago leaves the hall and makes her son even more insecure, he goes into the late rounds very uncontrollably. Creed now draws full strength, even after his rib is injured again. Before he finally sends Viktor on the boards, Ivan Drago throws in the towel for his son and thus forces the task. Adonis successfully defended his title. Viktor doesn't want to accept his defeat. Ivan comforts his son in the ring, hugs him and assures him that "everything is okay". Rocky tells Adonis that this is his time. He sits down on a folding chair for the last time, puts on his hat and watches the boxing ring in order to say goodbye to it, apparently for good.

The final assembly shows Rocky traveling to his son Robert in Vancouver and meeting his grandson for the first time. He looks very similar to his late wife Adrian.

Viktor and Ivan Drago continue to train together on the street. Adonis visits his father's grave and introduces him to his daughter Amara, who is now wearing a hearing aid.

On January 5, 2016, Sylvester Stallone and Gary Barber, CEO of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, confirmed to Variety that a sequel to Creed was in development.

Filming began on March 15, 2018 and took place in Morton and Chester and Philadelphia , Pennsylvania and completed on June 8, 2018. Some scenes were filmed in Deming , New Mexico .

The German-language dubbed version was produced by FFS Film- & Fernseh-Synchron GmbH under the direction of Axel Malzacher , based on a dialogue book by Alexander Löwe .

Sylvester Stallone is dubbed for the first time since 1979 by the German actor Jürgen Prochnow , instead of Thomas Danneberg , who was not available due to a serious illness. Prochnow had voiced the role of Stallone in Rocky and Rocky II in 1976 and 1979 . Ivan Drago actor Dolph Lundgren is voiced by Manfred Lehmann , in Rocky IV - The Fight of the Century this was voiced by Helmut Krauss .

On Rotten Tomatoes , the film received a rating of 82%, based on 97 positive and 21 critical reviews, with an average rating of 6.9 out of 10 and a user rating of 92% with 4.4 out of 5 possible points. In the critical consensus of the site, it says: " Creed II 's maintenance of the franchise formula results in a sequel with few real surprises, but its proven generation topics are still a real hit." The website Metacritic calculated an average Metascore of 67 based on 41 reviews from renowned media as well as an own user rating of 7.2 out of 10 possible points.
