Sherwin David "Wood" Harris (born October 17, 1969 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor .

Life

He became known from 2002 for his role as drug king Avon Barksdale in the television series The Wire . Against every rule , earned him a nomination for the Image Award for Best Supporting Actor .
