Irwin Winkler

Irwin Winkler (born May 25, 1931 in New York City , New York ) is an American film producer and director .

Career

Irwin Winkler has been a producer since 1967. Together with his long-time partner Robert Chartoff, he produced and produced numerous films, together they won an Oscar for Rocky in 1977 . Your first film together was Bullen - How Long Do You Want to Live? , a crime film from 1968. For television he was active as an executive producer, among other things for the series MacGyver . In 1991 he made his debut as a director with Guilty on Suspicion with Robert De Niro in the lead role. For this he worked as a screenwriter for the first time. In 2015, Winkler sued Warner Bros. Entertainment for at least $ 18 million in damages for allegedly unpaid payments from the Good Fellas - Three Decades in the Mafia project .

Private life

He is married to the actress Margo Winkler . Her sons Charles and David Winkler work as directors and film producers. The youngest son, Adam Winkler, is a lawyer and teaches at the UCLA School of Law .
