Reviews

  • Vincent Canby wrote in the New York Times that the film was so bad that there had to be an interesting backstory behind it. Al Pacino looks like the Rambo of the 18th century. Canby criticized the script and the cinematography. The historical background of the events is not explained.
  • Lexicon of international film : “The interesting topic is unfortunately gambled away due to dramaturgical and staging weaknesses. The result is a pure equipment film with little profiled, implausible characters. "
  • Georg Seeßlen wrote in epd Film : “You can stand as you like on Hudson's very late romanticism, his colonial passions. There is little doubt about his ability to find the most magnificent pictures and narrative characters for this. "
  • The film has an 8% positive rate on Rotten Tomatoes .
