MADtv is an American comedy show that aired in the United States from 1995 to 2009. From 1998 the program ran in a German-dubbed version, first on RTL , then on Super RTL . The series is still very well known in the US today.

The series was developed by Fax Bahr and Adam Small and was inspired by MAD magazine . In addition to skits and parodies in the style of the comedy show Saturday Night Live , the series also included short cartoon parts with Spy & Spy based on the comics by Antonio Prohías as well as stories by Don Martin and music guests.

Until 2008, the contract was signed with Fox . On November 13, 2008 it was announced that Fox would discontinue the series after season 14. The last episode aired on May 16, 2009.

Characters

Stuart Larkin: A hyperactive, strange toddler who is pampered by his mother (played by Mo Collins) and who has seizures of all kinds from sugar. The role of Michael McDonald is shown.

Lorraine Swanson : A slightly older, confused lady who ignores etiquette. She is married to Carl, who starred in two episodes. She has children, one of whom is Carl Jr. In the very last Lorraine sketch, you see her entire family camping.

UPS-Guy: A crazy and also hyperactive parcel delivery person who is fully committed to his career. Women think little of him, although he could melt some hearts with his charming, stupid manner. He is portrayed by Phil LaMarr.

Stan McNer: A handsome student who wears full black hair with a center parting , a black suit and horn-rimmed glasses. He is a humanities student and obviously, if not ostensibly, embodies an intellectual . The dominant trait of this character played by Pat Kilbane is his fondness for coffee, which shows the symptoms of an unrestrained caffeine addiction as well as declaring him to be a sensitive gourmet for all kinds and flavors of coffee.

Diane Dessou-Tabasco (Nicole Sullivan): She is a newscaster for the Channel 6 TV station, which shows everyday things like the weather forecast in action, but actually only mentions important events like the death of the president in passing. There is a special program on each topic, such as B. Wind storm 99 or swarm of bees 99 .

Miss Swan (Alex Borstein): A mostly emotionally hypothermic Asian nail salon owner who consistently avoids responding to her interlocutor with penetrating repeated statements. When interviewed by witnesses, she describes the perpetrator simply as a man. Inquiries about size and appearance are in vain, she always replies "He looks like a man."

Antonia (Nicole Sullivan): She's a simple-minded blonde with a strong lisp . She has a cat named "CeCe" that you never see on the show.

Dixie Wetsworth (Mary Scheer): Is the host of the TV talk show "Cabana Chat". She is around 50 and embodies a typical resident of Beverly Hills with dyed hair, adolescence and fashion. She loves to upset her celebrity guests with personalities and to watch her assistant, the "pool boy", dance - or change lightbulbs. Dixie is married and in one episode even (pretend) pregnant to look younger.

Dexter St. Croix (Orlando Jones), also known as “Caribbean Queen”, is Dixie's one-man band. He has a very high-pitched voice, wears a knotted Hawaiian shirt and is always very happy about Dixie's indecent remarks. A highlight of the show is his song about Joe Rogan's butt, which he sings in a very manly voice.

Pool Boy (Bryan Callen): Is Dixie's underexposed blonde assistant. His only job on the show is to please Dixie with the sight of him by dancing or bending over in his skimpy swimming trunks. After Dixie sent him out to get something, he was never seen again. She then did a casting in Cabana Chat to replace him.

Roland Backison (Ron Pederson): Is the Australian inventor and spokesperson for his product, Verb-Alert. Verb-Alert is an anti-theft device that uses magnetic bonds, which provide an alert when the magnetic bond is broken. The warnings are recorded by Roland himself and, with the shouting, serve the opposite of their actual purpose. The Verb-Alert-Sketch was followed by the Vehicular Verb-Alert-Sketch.

Abercrombie and Fitch Guys (Ron Pederson, Ike Barinholtz, Josh Meyers , later Michael McDonald): Abercrombie and Fitch is an American fashion company known for hiring lazy and rude salespeople known as Carpenter (Ron), Dutch (Ike ), Storm (Josh).

Doctor Kylie Johnson (Stephnie Weir): The cheerful young doctor drives her patients insane with her own fresh sense of humor.
