Kendrick "Ken" Kang-Joh Jeong (born July 13, 1969 in Greensboro , North Carolina ), sometimes also Dr. Called Ken , is an American comedian , actor, and doctor . He is known for incorporating his medical knowledge into his comedies .

Life

Ken Jeong graduated from Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . His breakthrough came when he won Big Easy Laff-Off , which featured NBC President Brandon Tartikoff and Budd Friedman on the jury. The two persuaded Jeong to move to Los Angeles to perform regularly at comedy clubs The Improv and Laugh Factory .

Jeong achieved greater fame with the portrayal of the gangster Leslie Chow in the Hangover trilogy. On the NBC television series Community , Ken Jeong played a leading role as Ben Chang from 2009 to 2015 .

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
