Franz Harnoncourt

Franz Harnoncourt-Unverzagt (born August 2, 1937 in Graz ) is an Austrian lawyer . He was chairman of the board of directors of the Kastner & Öhler department store and chairman of the board of directors of Grazer Wechselseiten Versicherung in Graz.

Life

He is the seventh child of Eberhard Harnoncourt and his wife Ladislaja, née Countess of Meran . Three of his brothers are Nikolaus , Philipp and Karl Harnoncourt .

After studying law and doing his doctorate, he began his professional life as a tax consultant at Binder + Co and gained experience abroad during a study visit to the USA, at the “ Karstadt ” department store in Germany and at “ Marks & Spencer ” in Great Britain. At Kastner & Öhler he got to know the company from the ground up, where he was on the board for decades. From 1982 to 2012 he was president and supervisory board member of the “ Grazer Wechselsendung insurance”. Since then he has been honorary president.

He is a Knight of the Order of Knights of Malta and a Receptor of the Grand Priory of Austria. He represents the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as honorary consul .

Private

Franz Harnoncourt-Unverzagt has been married to Marion, née Fogarassy (* 1941), daughter of Viktor Fogarassy and Dollie Kastner, and is the father of five daughters and one son.
