history

The company was founded by Ludwig Binder in Graz - Eggenberg in 1894 . At the beginning, the focus was on the building and metalworking trade and in the following years mainly on the area of iron structures. Even before the First World War , the man from Graz employed around 40 people.

After the global economic crisis of the 1920s and the associated recession , the company developed into a medium-sized industrial enterprise with around 130 employees in the 1940s.

In 1954 the "System Binder" for vibration screening machines was developed and initially used in the food industry. At the beginning of 1960, the processing of industrial minerals for the construction industry began in the new company headquarters in Gleisdorf , where they had moved at the same time.

Around 10 years later, in 1971, Binder + Co was incorporated into the Austrian company voestalpine and thus nationalized in order to ensure that the company could be marketed worldwide. At the same time, the first large-scale plants in the field of industrial minerals are designed and manufactured. In 1978 packaging systems for free-flowing bulk goods were developed, and in 1989 the first machines for recycling followed, mainly used in glass recycling.

In 1991 the company was reprivatised under the majority ownership of Auricon Beteiligungs AG, founded by Herbert W. Liaunig . Binder + Co went public for the first time in 1992 , after which it was briefly affiliated with the Waagner-Biro Group . Binder + Co has been operating as an independent AG again since 1999 .

In 2008, the company, which is the world leader in the field of glass recycling and the screening of difficult-to-screen materials, achieved sales of around 74 million euros with an average of 230 employees.

Since December 27, 2006 the company has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange again .

At the beginning of March 2008, the Waagner-Biro Group will withdraw completely. By bringing the packaging technology activities into a joint venture , Binder + Co AG became the majority owner of Statec Binder GmbH with 50.7% in October 2008.

In January 2012 the 100% subsidiary Bublon GmbH is founded. Binder + Co is thus creating a solid basis for the global marketing of the new process introduced in autumn 2011 for the production of a purely natural base material for building materials with insulation properties.

At the beginning of 2013, Binder + Co Machinery ( Tianjin ) Ltd. was founded. in China , the new sales, manufacturing and service location will start operations in May. The core components of the Binder + Co machines continue to come from Austria, at the new location they are assembled with the components manufactured on site.

At the end of the last trading day on July 29, 2016, Binder + Co will withdraw from the stock exchange . The reason for this is the tightening of the previous market abuse rules, which are also associated with a substantial expansion of information obligations for issuers in the Third Market of the Vienna Stock Exchange .

The US subsidiary Binder + Co USA Inc., headquartered in Denver , Colorado , will commence operations as a sales and service subsidiary in August 2016.

Product portfolio

The Binder + Co production line comprises three main areas: environmental technology (glass and paper recycling), processing technology (gravel and sand works, screening and drying technology) and packaging technology . Furthermore, the company supplies turnkey complete systems.
