Turbo - Small snail, big dream (original title Turbo ) is an American 3D - animated film from the year 2013 . Produced by Dreamworks Animation and distributed by 20th Century Fox . The film premiered on July 17, 2013 in the United States and Canada , while it opened in Germany , Switzerland and Austria on October 3 and 4, 2013.

The garden snail Theo has a big dream. She dreams of being as fast as the famous racing driver Guy Gagné for once in her life. She wants nothing more than to take part in the Indianapolis Grand Race , the Indy 500 . However, his brother, Chet, is not very enthusiastic about Theo's dream and rather wants Theo to give up his dream.
One day, when a tomato falls on the garden, Theo tries to get it back, but unsuspectingly puts his life in danger as he gets closer and closer to the lawnmower. Chet can save him in time. Depressed, Theo sets off on a motorway where he wishes he could be very fast. Suddenly Theo falls on the hood of a drag car. When it accelerates sharply, Theo is sucked into its engine, where it comes into contact with N 2 O and flies out of the drag car's exhaust pipe.
Suddenly Theo clearly differs from the typical snails. He can now z. B. be faster than lightning. Later he is confronted with a boy on his tricycle, where he shows his strength for the first time. However, the tricycle rolls over to the vegetable garden (where the garden snails work) and destroys it. Theo and Chet are then fired.
During the subsequent trip, Chet is attacked by crows. Theo can still save him, but the two are soon taken away by Tito, a taco dealer. Arrived in a run-down shopping center, Turbo gets to know the racing snails Checker, Bleifuss, Schneller Schatten, Flamme and Drifter. He shows his power, which he has, thus wins the respect of the snails and from now on calls himself "Turbo". Tito is totally impressed with Turbo's ability and wants to use him as an advertising character to attract new customers. Since the customers are very enthusiastic about Turbo's power, Tito registers him for the Indy 500.
Once in Indianapolis, Turbo managed to qualify for the Indy 500. When the race starts, Turbo is in last place due to several difficulties. But then he impressed the audience with his skills. But then Turbo's strength fades because Gagné presses him against the wall. On the final lap, while trying to catch up with Turbo, Gagné caused an accident that also affected the other participants, including Turbo.
Turbo, who has lost hope, is hiding in his snail shell. Chet can, however, encourage him to continue the race. Gagné still tries to finish first ahead of Turbo with his damaged car, but Turbo just barely wins the race. The audience cheers him. Gagné is disqualified for several scams.
Chet then becomes a member of Bleifuss' team. Turbo has recovered from the damage he sustained in the Indy 500 race and is now competing in a snail race with his friends.
